We don't qualify for ANYthing... *sigh* hubby alone earns over £32k - thing is though once mortgage and debt repayments have gone out it's not like we're THAT well off... hohum

In that case, my advice would be to stop worrying about what you might and might not need to buy, and start saving.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Yeh, you dont need to go over the top, Im sure you'll manage!Once you decide to TTC you can start buying little bits and pieces so you dont have to buy everything in one go, and Im sure you'll get help from family and friends.. so many places do quality but cheap childrens clothes now.. Asda, Tesco, Primark and the likes.. do a bit of research online to find out how much costs, and as someone said before, check out what you're entitled to. Im sure you'll be fine

If you're absolutely determined not to buy anything second hand then maybe you should set up a savings account now and plan for a couple of years before TTC.
Babies are, or can be, pretty cheap but there is still a lot you can spend money on without really thinking about it - and it never stops... my DS has just outgrown a lot of his clothes so I've had to buy practically a whole wardrobe for him. I had this put aside already so didn't feel the pain but I would have if I hadn't saved. IT's worth keeping an open mind about breastfeeding. You don't know how you'll feel when the baby is bornjust see how it goes.
The main problem is buying things you don't need AT ALL - who the hell invented the top and tail bowl! :rotfl: useless - just useless!
You can save lots with resuable nappies and wipes too. Maybe not in the early days (unwanted memories of all that poo...)0
