Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
cazscoob - I have recently bought the Phil and Teds. Am currently using as a single, but Rowan will have just turned one when his little brother arrives so I needed to invest in something that could be used as either a single or a double.

I have tested it out with a friends (rather chunky) toddler and it workes brilliantly as a double. It steers just like a single (it doesn't weigh down too badly at the front like other tandem pushchairs) and it fits through doors just fine.

I cant recommend it highly enough!

  • Its all personal preferance but we went with the Jane Powertwin, as we didn't like the idea of the second child being tucked behind and low to the ground. It also has a handbrake, which you need going downhill with children who are growing heavier and heavier. With the Jane the second child is slightly raised and if you take the hood off the front seat they get quite a nice few. Somthing I am noticing now Molly is sitting up when we are out.

Try out a few designs and ask people for the pro's and con's, cos every buggy/pram has a design fault that you don't like and then go on ebay for the one you've chosen. Don't foget to try them out with children in, its a whole different ball game without.

A con to the Jane is the lock on the swivel wheel at the front. If Jack hangs his left foot over the foot plate it can knock the lock in, causing the wheel to lock straight. Some days i'm pulling it back out lots and then I don't do it for a while. Depends on how much feet dangling is going on. But other than that, I can't fault it and its not a major problem really.

We decided that as we had the space to keep our sons single buggy we didn't need one that would do the job of both, but you may be different.

ok i have looked at every review there is online and looked at every web site etc, am sick of looking at prams lol:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
looks like i am going for the phil and teds but unsure which model(there are so many???) ebay have a few on that are brand new still in the box which i am tempted by but going to wait until i have my scan and get dates before jumping into something. my sister wants to buy my big pram so that will be a bit towards new pram(my god they are expensive:eek:  ) but my thoughts are that it will not go to waste as it can be used as a single. looked at the jane but feel that when charlie starts walking im going to be stuck with a double i cant use??

thanks for the welcomes etc just dont think this has quite sunk in yet, once i have scan and tell people it may seem more real xx

Congratulations to the new mums to be.
DH brother and his GF are trying for no.2 and we think his other brothers fiance is expecting, they're getting married in 2 weeks so we're expecting a little anouncement not long after :D Can't wait to be an auntie again.

We took the boys swimming on Tuesday and Adam loved it, Jamie is learning to swim on his own too.
We need to go regularly now as part of Adam's physio as we found out last friday he is hypermobile (double jointed) in his ankles which is why his feet are turning outwards. He can't get his balance so locks his knees together which puts his feet out.
We have excercises to do with him, we have to balance him on his knees over his inflatable play ring and we have to stroke the inside of his ankles at every nappy change which he doesn't like much.

He went for his 8 month review and weighs 12lbs 13oz, the hv was really nice and pleased with him and his development.

And i go back to work on Monday 18th, how has it come around so flippin' quick? :D
If everyone cared and nobody cried, if everyone loved and nobody lied, if everyone shared and swallowed their pride then we'd see the day when nobody died.

  • Does anyone have any recommendation on the best age gap to ahve between two children?

My son is almost 11 months and I would like another one. I work 4 days a week and pay out alot in childcare, I would rather be at home with 2 children for the next 3/4 years and enjoy it and have my family complete. Then i can return to work when youngest receives the 15hrs free childcare.

    Everyone is different!

My two boys are two years apart. I liked that gap as the eldest was just coming out of nappies and could help with the baby (passing me things and wiping his bum and stuff!), and they've always been quite close. They're 11 and 9 and often play together with the same mates and stuff.

Then there's 8 years between my youngest son and my daughter! I like that gap too as the older ones are practically independant now, so I can give the baby more attention than if I had say 3 under 5's.

Ooops, sorry, not been around much the last couple of days!

Thanks very much :). Yes, we paid off our home improvement loan on Tuesday when a sharesave matured, and had just enough left to pay off my credit card and our holiday. :j Just the mortgage to go now!

It's a lovely feeling, and a relief too, because it means we can afford a slightly bigger mortgage and build an extension here, so we will be able to stay in this house instead of moving. At the moment we are a bit cramped, and as Ryan has Aspergers Syndrome, he really needs space, and a bit of peace and quiet now and again.
