Thanks susan - I will look into that one - does it fold up small? I didnt want to take the carrycot from the pram as it takes up so much room and wasnt quite sure if she will still be in her moses basket by then:p
It goes into a cylindrical bag which I just measured and it's 16" long and about 9" diameter. If it's any help, when we took the top of the pram with us we put it in the boot first and then packed other luggage into it. (Although if she's too big for it anyway then that's not much use.)

And I'm very impressed at how much work you put into your post, all that copying and pasting of quotes. :T

:T :j :T :j Bailey - you sound fab! So pleased you are feeling positive and having an easier time with Molly. You didn't half deserve it! Hope to hear from you again soon.

Re the thread. I've been thinking for a while that I should start a V2 and just post a new link in the last post, but am not sure if this is best?

I think Bailey's idea about the ages is great but do others think that would make it more difficult to keep up? I feel like we've developed a little community and don't really want to give that up, esp. in the first few years of babe's life as those of us with 1yr+ babies still pass on advice to the new parents.

It would be great if someone could make the thread a sticky, I just don't know how!!

:j :j Yeah Snaggles on your weightloss. I am struggling to stay at target (I do slimming world). Am not going to class as it's v difficult now I'm commuting again and I've let things slip. Back on it tonight though as 4lb very quickly becomes 1/2 stone etc...

Tropical World was fab. Imogen loved the fish and birds most (the beer-cat enclosure is closed for a refurb). Now OH wants to buy her some goldfish, but we haven't got anywhere suitable for the tank.

I'm collecting behind-the-scenes invites for other attractions - very MSE. So far I've swung a backstage tour at The Deep and Chester Zoo form various friends of friends. :money:

*sidles in* Not actually graduated off the pregnancy thread yet (and probably won't until October, my little probably girl is due the same day Septemberbaby's Poppy was due last year.... lol) but I read this to pick up tips and very informative it's been too so thank you all :-)

But yes, I popped on becuase Lu, (although it doesn't have to be Lu but it's prolly better if only one person does iyswim) if you PM a mod savvy_sue and/or Glad, they can close this thread, start a new one and make the new one a sticky. They have magic buttons (I moderate a different forum so I know about and love my magic buttons!) :-)

Hope that helps :-) *sidles out again*

On the subject of being a sticky: is there any particular benefit to the thread being a sticky? (I'm not saying there isn't - I just can't think of any myself.)

  • Does anyone know why the baby formula boxes state "use within a month of opening"? I have some aptimil stage 1 milk that Molly can't use, its about 2 months after opening and only had a few bottles out of it, so practically new. I am thinking of giving it away, but wouldn't want to give it to someone knowing this.

    What do you think?

I don't know but I presume it's to do with either some of the stuff in it degrading over time or to do with the fact that (more) germs can be introduced once it has been opened. I guess it's down to whether the individual parent thinks it's worth the risk. Personally I don't think I'd fancy giving a newborn "old" formula but might feel different with an older child who was eating solids too.

  • I know what your saying on one hand it seems criminal to throw it out but on the other hand I wouldn't want to give it to a newborn either.

    Oh well.......

I merrily used a tin of formula that I kept at my parents house for months without realising it said to use within a certain timescale of opening

Never did her any harm though, I'm sure it would be all right Bailey. But yes, I can see why someone with a newborn might be worried about using it - it's easy to be a bit paranoid when they're so tiny.

I use mine past the months expiry also as LO only has a bottle each day and the occasional scoop added to breakfast oats - no poorly tums here either.

And I sincerely hope you don't have to wait as long for your bundle as I did (and get the stigma of starting the 'Overdue Club' :rotfl:). Hope you are feeling well x

The one benefit I can see is that the thread will always stay at the top. Sometimes if there have been no posts for a while it goes back a few pages and I have to hunt for it! :D

Re the seperating of threads, I actually quite like reading about all other ages and it prepares me for what to expect next ;) and I like the little community spirit thing too :o.
