Congrats Ophie - that's fab news! You should be very proud - you've passed a load of tests we don't have to take (I'm sure they might not let me have another if I had to go through the tests  ) Hope you're enjoying every minute.
Welcome newbies, good to have you on board. If you want to put some details of baby's name and birthday in your signature it helps all of those with permanent mummy-brain to remember how old they are!
Sept - so glad you had a weekend away. I'm not jealous, much! Isn't it nice to be you and not mum? Just for short spurts though. Imogen went to my mum's for 5 days (she's not local) and we both wanted her back after 2.
Imogen's a complete trauma right now. She's teething and also getting to that tantrum stage, normally about 3am. If I don't catch it soon enough she can scream and throw herself about for more than an hour, alternating between wanting a cuddle and wrenching herself away when she gets one. Bless her, she has no idea what she wants, or why she's so mad/upset. Any tips from you seasoned pros?
If I catch it early enough I can distract her with a book and get her settled, but I feel so bad that she's clearly frustrated about what she's feeling and we can't seem to help. She's only 17 months, so we've got some time yet before they subside on their own. Any suggestions gratefully received.MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -
Yes congratulations Ophie, don't eat her all at once!
The cutest thing happened today. So he started crawling, not terribly good at it yet and today he wasn't in the mood to practice as he's dragging his red snotty nose on the ground. But I was too lazy to get up, so I called him over from the other side of the room and HE CAME!! So funny, he just looked up at his name and lurched forward a few times until he reached my arms. Huge hug for that. *beam*
Ooh, and had a slight turnaround from OH on the sibling front. I asked if I can just chuck all the baby clothes out, he said only because we want to declutter and they're cheap to replace later!! :T Now to convince my doctor :wall:0 -
Proper man-flu here this morning. Poor Joseph landed on my bed coughing, dribbling, mouth open for air, red nosey dripping, red-rimmed eyes streaming. Looking ever so sorry for himself. Bless, went right back to sleep after his milk. Day four and counting...:wall:0

scan day today!! quite excited, baby is kicking lots now, but dh still not felt it as he gets there at the wrong time.
kennedy is getting quite stroppy now, she can be a proper madam at times, and she's taken to not going to sleep when we put her down, she sits and natters away to herself!0 -
Hi everyone
Izzy's still waiting for a set of teeth to come through, they are the pointy canine (fang!) ones. Her first set of molars are all through and she looks really funny with these big gaps. Did anyone else find these a long time in coming? Can't remember what happened with Olivia now, too long ago for my rusty old brain to cope.
I'm also just getting over this horrible tummy bug that seems to be doing the rounds. Goodness knows where I caught it from, nobody I know has had it, just praying I haven't passed it on to the family, can do without having to mop it up for the next week having only just got over it myself!! _pale_ Been scrubbing my hands with the antibacterial soap and no kissing!! Fingers crossed.0 -
Thanks, Lu. It really was odd only thinking about myself for a while but I thought when is the next time I will be able to do this with LO2 on the way? My parents had Poppy for both afternoons while I was away so DH didn't even have to do the lions share! Ah, I can imagine pining after 5 days but how lovely of your Mum to offer x
Well, we have finally bitten the bullet and Poppy has just been put to bed in her nursery for the very first time!. So far so good and I know it should have been done 2 months ago but it has really upset me. My baby is growing up so fast...
We have the HV coming to do her 8m check on Friday. Can anyone tell me what to expect?
x0 -
From what I can remember from the 8m check, the HV just checks that baby is developing properly. We had Charlotte on the floor, and we just chatted while she observed Charlotte doing things like passing a toy from one hand to the other and stuff.
I'm back from my holidays! Turkey is beautiful and I'm desperate to go back again. Had a lovely time and the rest has done me the world of good. Hubby isn't keen on sunbathing, so he took Charlotte most days for a couple of hours. Boys made friends and were away off with their gang, so I had lovely peaceful sunbathing time
Charlotte flicked straight into a holiday routine and didn't mind eating later and stuff. She tried lots of Turkish food and was quite happy with all the new tastes.
By late afternoon, Charlotte was ready for a nap. Sometimes she wanted Daddy and sometimes she wanted me. If it was my turn, I used to take her to the chill out zone, which was a garden with decked areas covered by huge cushions and a thatched roof shade on. We used to curl up in the cushions and have a pre-dinner snooze together - bliss
Turkish people are crazy about babies. Charlotte loved being the centre of attention and having people make a fuss of her. Even people just walking past would ruffle her hair or stroke her cheek etc. She also has a boyfriend! Used to visit a really entertaining bar, and one of the lads working there took a shine to her. He used to take her and introduce her to all the other customers as his girlfriend, and tell them he was waiting 20 years until he could marry her
Got my adrenaline going by paragliding off Babadag mountain and landing on the beach. I took off from 1960m (or 6500 feet) and we managed to get quite a bit higher, before we floated off over the beach and lagoon. It was awesome
Holiday has done me the world of good. I feel a lot less stressed and relaxed now, and generally better health wise.
Haven't read the thread yet, so apologies for anything important I've missed! Here I go again on my own....0 -
Don't worry Septemberbaby Poppy will be fine I put Ellie into her own room just after 3 months and we have never looked back since. The only thing is you can't jump back into bed to feed her!!!!
Saying that I went through to check on her (after watching Britains got more talent best and worst) and she was at the opposite end of the cot and had also turned 180 degrees, she can do it in her cot yet can't do it on the floor during the day so I can see her do it lol!!
Becles Glad you had a gd holiday bet it wa sa thought to come back, especially with all the washing you will have, unless your an ultra organised mummy and did it whilst away!!
heather38 Hope your scan went well today
We got a new appointment through for Ellie today so she is going to hospital on Thursday now instead of 18 June. So at least she is getting checked out that little bit sooner.Everyone is entitled to their opinionEllie 25/12/070 -
scan went well, baby didn't like the probe thing and kept kicking it and trying to move out of the way, am showing a few days earlier than they said but are leaving my edd as it is on oct 11th. i also resisted the urge to find out the sex so it's a yellow bump for us.0

Has anyone any thoughts on a good travel cot? DD will be 5 months when we need it and I was looking at a samsonite pop up bubble as space will be limited due to my obsessive need to pack everything but the kitchen sink:rotfl:but I could fit in a normal travel cot if I have to19.6.10 Weight loss 6lb0
