I doubt it was the solids that stopped the colic, it normally stops on its own accord after 3 months.

I have just accepted that I have a sickie baby (though I do like to complain about it). In fact all three of mine have been sickies. DS1 - I didn't know any better, DS2 was a sickie too but quite a bit better, and DD now is a lot worse BUT they have all gained weight.

My DD is 27+3 and she doesn't get much food - 5-6t weetbix in am and BLW veg in the evening - probably about 2-3t worth, with the odd rice cake / rusk during the day. Not much help I'm afraid.

    Hello everyone

Can't quite remember when i last popped in, but i thought it probably about time to come and announce my new arrival.

Sam was born on the 06/05 at 6:20 am weighing 9Ib2oz. It was a very quick labour - less than 3 hours start to finish, with no time for any painkillers or anything. We were allowed to come home the same day, and are thoroughly enjoying our baby moon.

DS1 has took it all brilliantly - no jealousy at all so far, although he has been spoilt rotten for attention by his daddy and the grandparents. He keeps wanting to kiss and touch the baby.

Sam is a sleepy baby so far. He has slept through 11:30 to 7am when he was 4 days old, and then last night was awake for just 30 minutes between 11 last night and 8 this morning. I only hope it continues and i know how lucky i am. It is such a pleasant experience compared to my long traumatic labour with DS1 and then weeks of severe colic where he cried for about 12 hours a day.

DS1 is at nursery today, so it is really nice to sit and chill and get some things done. The baby is so quiet and good it is easier than i thought it might be. I can see we may find it more tricky when DH goes back to work, but will cross that bridge later. It will go so quickly i am not going to stress about anything cos this may be my last baby ;) unless we move house.

It has been lovely catching up on the thread and seeing all the photos.

susan i think i would ring the hotel and ask about facilities myself. We went to a wedding last month and there was no baby change area, and the public toilets were so small there was nowhere to change DS1. Luckily we had booked a room so i could rest. Also, FIL had a birthday meal in a hotel, and again, nowhere for changing, despite them having a childrens play area in the restaurant and otherwise being kiddy friendly.

We are at a wedding in August, and also a 40th wedding anniversary boat cruise. I am dreading both a bit, as obviously will be breast feeding, and haven't a clue what to wear, and imagine it will be in a public area particulary on the boat. I think a floaty top will have to be the case, and then cover up with a scarf/large muslin or something. The things you have to think about.

Right, it sounds like i am needed for another feed - the baby doesn't cry for food, just wakes, whimpers a bit and then roots for it. We only hear him cry when he is being changed or dressed. Best check anyway.

    Michelle, x

Congratulations Michelle! Sam is such a cutie! :)

Glad to hear everything is going well, and DS1 is being such a star! :T I have to say, my DS1 has been absolutely brilliant with DS2 from day 1, and still is really really good, so although sibling jealousy is something you expect, it may not necessarily always be too bad. ;)

And a 3-hour labour, wow - I've never understood how some women do that - amazing! :T :j

Congrats Michelle - he looks gorgeous.

I had a quick labour with my second one - that was 3 hours too!
Here I go again on my own....

    Hi Pink Princess,

My darling brother bought my DD a new pushchair for her birthday an Icandy Cherry.

We bought a Graco Travel System before she was born but facing forward all the time means that she gets conjunctivitis ALOT.

I love the ICandy, it's really light, it's really smooth to push, it lies flat both ways.

Best of all you can buy the car seat and carry cot pieces separately as didn't need them with DD being 12 months old.

DD absolutely adores her new buggy as she can chat and pull faces at me whilst we walk.

DH likes it as it's so much lighter it's much easier for him to take DD out for a walk with the dog.

I also have the problem of running people over as I'm too busy chatting to DD. I loved looking at her face when the cherry blossom was out as she was fascinated by it.

The biggest positive is that she's not had a bout of conjunctivitis since.

Well done Michelle. And welcome to the world Sam. He looks absolutely gorgeous.

Don't know if you remember, but Izzy and Charlie shared a due date, it is hard to imagine having a another baby already, but I'm getting a few pangs of broodiness thinking about it! :rotfl:

Hi there wondering if anyone could offer some advice, my little girl is 22 weeks and I started weaning at 17 weeks as she was always very sick with her formula and was advised that hopefully moving her on to solids would help her sickness and colic, I am just so confused as to what she should be eating and drinking daily.
I was told by the HV that she should still be taking around 30ozs formula a day until 6 months but that I should still be increasing amount of solids she takes and number of feeds she takes solids at, she seems to have lost a lot of interest in the bottle since starting taking food off of a spoon and it is very difficult to get her to take it.
Also when should she be drinking out of a cup? what should she be drinking?

Don't ask me  - I've never been so confused as I am about weaning. Doesn't help that all HVs have different opinions - one minute you're supposed to be replacing milk feeds with solids, the next you're supposed to be sneaking 600mls a day! I spent weeks confused and in tears before we worked out a routine, at which point the HV are accusing me of starving the little mite and telling me I should be getting up in the middle of the night to feed him . So now, yet again, I have changed the system and there were tears again. I absolutely hate it, wish I didn't have to wean. Or listen to people who should know better

Cups - when we started I gave him boiled water in a cup to drink like we do (caught him practising on his stacking cups recently :rotfl:) but then he picked up drinking from the spouted cups pretty quickly. Milk is still in teats (two bottles a day), but water comes out of anything now - important these days with the warm weather.

I know, when my HV came out just as baby was approaching 17 weeks she spoke about weaning and said you can start anytime after 17 weeks even gave me a leaflet advising this is ok then when I look for further info online EVERYWHERE says wait until 6 months!

    So confused

Morning all, well at least i think it is... bad night again, LO slept on my chest all night and the days are becoming the same...LO must really be suffering with his teeth because constant crying..you just get him settled and then 3 minutes later he is balling his eye out.

The rash on his tummy seems to have moved and now he has some round his neck and forehead but a friend at work said this is probably teething rash ..does that sound right?

I just hope they will still take him in nursery tomorrow as I'm in office , my mums out and dont think OH is about either! Ah the joys of motherhood:j
Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.
