big hugs to bailey and thanks to everyone to replied on the wipes/cotton wool balls query. Was beginning to worry I'd gone overboard on the wipe hoarding (can't resist the buy one get one free + coupon or extra tesco points combo!) and they would all dry out before I got to use them! :D

we were using nothing but cotton wool and water for bum changes until Danny got the WORST nappy rash ive ever seen,
the health visitor kept making sure we were using cotton wool but eventually it got so bad we had to see the doctor and he told us to use wipes!
he said with all the aloe and camomile in them these days, they are the best thing! the HV pulled a face when she heard.... but who cares!
so we use wipes all day, then cotton wool for a proper wash at night.

in other news, we should be finally finding out whats going on with Dannys stomach at hospital tomorrow, he has had waaaaay too many blood tests and they took samples of pee and poo to test and we get the results at an appointment with his consultant in the morning, fingers crossed for our little boy please!

Bay - congrats on baby molly,
right... grab five minutes of quiet somewhere, even if your sat on the loo!
sit back, close your eyes, breathe deeply and think about a place or an experience where you felt amazing, or had loads of fun, really carefree etc... and while your doing it, make an O with your thumb and forefinger (like your doing an OK symbol) and squeeze them together (like your squashing something inbetween them)
associate this action with that carefree happy feeling and then when it all gets a bit much, squeeze your fingers together and concentrate on that feeling flooding over you,
if you do it enough you wont have to think about it, you will automatically feel a bit better just by doing the action with your hand

this is one of the excersizes that really help me when i start feeling loopy and out of control (i have post natal anxiety disorder - which hopefully will improve greatly when we find out whats happening with Daniel)
  • Fingers and toes crossed for Daniel tomorrow, CG! Hope you finally get to the bottom of your little man's probs xxx

My cousin has just called - he's been to a psychic evening (yes, I know!). Anyways, he was asked if he had a new addition to the family called Rose! Yep, I also know that's not Poppy's name but it is one of her names :rotfl:;). Apparently my late Nanna is her Guardian Angel :A so even though I'm really not convinced about all this stuff, I still feel all warm and fuzzy tonight :o.

Sorry to hear that.I don't know anything about cats but it's just one of those things and not your fault. I've caught Charlotte chewing the dog toys before as the dog gives her them to play with

Hopefully you will have got some medical advice from NHS direct. Give the toys and box a good wash in disinfectant too.

Hope Daniel got on ok and you have some good news CG.

Milestone day here - Charlottes first tooth has come through. Just a tiny sliver of white poking through her gum, but we still cleaned it with a tootbrush before bed :D
Here I go again on my own....

Oh dear, it's obviously not ideal but it's one of those things, you can't do much about it now.

Babies do tend to find the most unsuitable things to play with - I remember a friend once found her baby chewing on a dirty wet mop head, she'd just used the mop to clean the floors - eugh!

Don't beat yourself up about it. :o Time to get the Dettol out. :D

Well done Charlotte! :T :j Still no sign of any teeth here (which is just as well as I'm still breastfeeding :rotfl: )

    How did it go, CG?

And to contribute to the wipes/cotton wool debate (we used cotton wool for the first couple of weeks BTW)... When I was expecting DS1, we got a hospital bag list from the MW. Now, the list was pretty straightforward, apart from one thing: an empty plastic tub, such as margarine tub. DH and me spent hours contemplating what the tub was for (we had weird ideas, like putting your placenta in it :o :rotfl: well I didn't know back then that a placenta wouldn't fit in a marg tub! :rotfl: Not that I actually wanted to take my placenta home with me, of course!). Anyway, finally at the antenatal classes the MW enlightened us what the tub was for... have you guessed? Topping and tailing, of course!

Good old NHS, you're supposed to bring your own tubs for washing your baby

Our hospital has baby baths but it was a faff filling it (not that I did it as I couldn't walk for about 8 hours after the birth because of the epidural so OH did it).

I am so sure we had discussed said marg tubs here somewhere before and they turned out to be for washing your own bits... something about pouring warm water on tender areas as you use the loo so it doesn't sting...

The first time J was bathed we attended the daily bath demonstration, happily handing him over to the midwife who needed a baby to demonstrate on! Poor little mite screamed his head off, so I was sooo glad it wasn't me doing it.

izzywizzy66 - things like this are bound to happen, so don't beat yourself up about it - this is coming from me, who last week let her son slip from her grip whilst practicing sitting, hitting his little head on a hard wood edge. Five seconds of screaming from him, days of guilt and fear for me :o

Hi Izzy, my Izzy is a little minx for delving her hands into the toilet at every opportunity she gets. I've told everyone to close the lid and shut the loo door, but I catch her in there every couple of days. Plus when you consider the fact that my eldest never bloody remembers to flush the darned thing, it doesn't really bear thinking about :p
My friend has caught her little boy chewing on the loo brush on a few occasions ... I think that trumps your mophead Dormouse lol. He's 4 now and doesn't do it any more obviously but never did him any real harm.

With the best will in the world they will all get hold of stuff they oughtn't to be touching. OK, cat poo isn't the best, but it will make you more vigilant in future perhaps.

If a cat pooped in our toychest I don't think I'd ever notice, there's that much toot in there! :rotfl:

My nephew, bless him, he is 18y old now ...

... was found in his cot, with his nappy open  and he was having a meal of the contents. I still gag at the memory of it, made worse by the fact that he had managed to smear it all over the bars of the cot too.
