Went for my babys 6 wk check last week and the GP mentoned a dimple at the base of his spine. We are now waiting for an appt to have an Ultrasound to see if he Spinda Bifida.

The GP says this dimple at the base of the spine is very common and may be nothing at all. Has any one on here had a similar experience?

tee pee, how horrible. I hope they don't make you wait long, and that they can tell you at the appointment.

tee pee - sorry, no experience of that myself. I sincerely hope you get an appointment through quickly and that it is a false alarm. These things come along to try us. Parenthood is the most stressful profession of them all. Big hugs to you and your family at this horrible time.

bailey when you get a moment, how has Jack taken to the baby? I caught DS trying to stomp on one of the littler ones at nursery today, and it gave me the heebie jeebies. He has not taken well to having a week off and then going back - i think more to do with the week with the 1 year older cousin who was very bossy. Will have to work on him.

tee pee - don't usually recommend googling as normally scares the living daylights out of me, but there's a discussion about sacral dimples over on the mumsnet forum here and harmless dimples do sound very common. Easier said than done I know, as I know I would also be freaking out in your shoes, but do try not to worry, it's very likely to be nothing to worry about.

    Sending hugs.

You have my symapthies as I know exactly how you are feeling. I had complications when I was pregnant and had to have extra tests and scans as they thought Charlotte might have various things - spina bifida was one of them. It was such a relief when she was born and she was fine, but I was worried sick during the end of the pregnancy.

The doctor told me that there are various levels of spina bifida. You tend to think of disabled children in wheelchairs, but there are lots of children out there with just mild cases so they lead pretty much normal lives like any other child. I know you'll always think the worst, but hopefully that will give you some comfort too.

Take care and try not to worry too much. Easier said than done I know xx
Here I go again on my own....
