BTW - Imogen said Mummy for the first time on Sunday night :j :j , I nearly cried!

    Awwww, sweet!!

I've been trying to get Izzy to say "Hello Daddy" for a while now as she says lots of single words but hasn't put them together yet. On Sunday my DH had been out running and came back in and she gave him a beaming grin and said "Hello Daddy!" clear as anything. Then looked really startled by the resounding cheers and clapping she received from us all :rotfl:

Mazcabs, it might be worth trying to juggle your feeds a bit so you can do a 4pm, then feed after bath at 7-7.30pm, then just put baby in his cot/crib. When you say it takes an hour to "get him to sleep" does that mean you are doing things to try to get him to sleep, or he just doesn't fall asleep until then?

After giving him a bottle after his bath, I wind him and then put him down but then can take an hour to do things to get him to sleep. Its normally because he is so tired after not sleeping in the day. So far today he has had 2 x 20 minute naps (woke up and wouldnt go back to sleep.) He's asleep now but for how long I dont know. He just wont nap in the day time no matter what I try, its like he thinks he's missing out.

Alice is having trouble with naps at the moment thanks to another cold. Thanks to the wonders of Night Calpol (which tastes the same as Medised but we've managed to develop a method to get it down her) she goes to sleep at night but in the day I've just been having her in the sling for naps as it's the only way she'll get them.

Update on the sleep front. DS had bath at quarter to 7 tonight as staring getting tired. Gave him bottle and winded him. Put him down at 8 after singing him half asleep. Nipped to Tescos to get some wipes before the extra clubcard points offer ran out tonight and by the time I got back which was all of 20 mins he was awake again... OH was trying to settle him but I had to take over by singing to him. He dropped off then woke again and have just settled him so thats an hour after I started an dhe's finally asleep....its amazing what you can sing to him to the tune of Twinkle twinkle little star and he went asleep!!!

Not sure about trying a dream feed as OH has to be up at 5 for work...might try when hes in nights and its just the 2 of us. Second lot of immunisations tomorrow so that should be fun

  • Hi ,

I was hoping someone could help me. I gave birth 5 weeks ago and although there were complications had a 'normal delivery'. Because of the complications I ended up with a water AND womb infection and was given 2 types of antibiotics which I took and eventually it all settled down.

I stopped bleeding at about 3.5 weeks but then last week I started getting horrible tummy pains. Stronger than period type cramps. So I went back to the nurse and said I didn't think one or both of the infections had gone. She tested my urine and said I had water infection so I am back on trimethaprim.

NOW i am bleeding. Really heavily. I thought it was my period but the cramps are really bad and (sorry TMI) I am covered in blood. I am not using tampons yet but I am using long nighttime pads and having to change every hour as it's just pouring out. I darent even go out.

Does this sounds like a normal first period? It's certainly not 'normal' for my periods bbut I didn't know what ot expect after giving birth.

Does anyone have any advice? I don't want to go to doctors if it's just my period.

  • I think I'd go to the doctor for that (but you could always phone HNS Direct first). My first one was much lighter than usual (but I don't know whether it's affected by BF).

Doesn't sound right to me - sounds heavier than your loss is just after delivery ?

Also you might get anaemic with so much loss.

    Hi Shelvis

Don't panic, but do get it checked out. Better safe than sorry. My first period was heavier than normal I think, but not that heavy. You're right not to be using tampons just yet I think.

    You could call -
    - your DRs surgery and speak to the nurse,
    - health visitor/MW (depends whether you've been discharged to HV team)
    - NHS Direct - 0845 46 47

Hope all is okay. Do let us know how you get on chick.

Bay, Michelle, you both doing okay? Any news?!! (Sorry, I know that drove me crazy when I was at the end, but can't help it!!)

    Hi Shelvis

My first period was really light - I barely knew I was having it!

My second one was a nightmare! I had bad cramps and bled heavily for 3 weeks and I got sick of soaking through pads, especially at night. I got checked out and they could find no reason for it.

My periods have been the same as before I had Charlotte since then.

I would get checked out if you are worried. Even if there is nothing wrong, it'll put your mind at rest.

Sad day here today. My dog Suzy was 13 years old and poorly. They discovered a tumour in her liver and there was nothing they could do, so she went to sleep in my arms yesterday :(
Here I go again on my own....

Oh Becles, hope you're okay. I'll never forget how quiet it was at home when we lost our Staffie. It's making me cry right now and it was 4 years ago! Big hug :grouphug:
