Nice to meet you again Valentine!

My daughter is 7 months now. I used baby rice mixed with fruit purees when I first weaned her. Just try a couple of spoonfuls at any daytime feed when your baby is most happy and alert. There's no point trying when they are tired as they just won't have it!

Build up the number of spoonfuls at that meal, and reduce the baby rice. You can mix in other flavours too. Once she has tried a few fruits, then try some sweeter veg like the root vegetables, then green vegetables, then bring in meats and savoury dishes.

I followed this guide roughly from Hipp:
    http://www.hipp.co.uk/weaningchart/
It's very Hipp orientated though, so ignore the Hipp suggestions and just feed your own equivilant meals!

I've been trying with finger foods with my daughter but she hasn't shown much interest. However we had a buffet with relatives on Boxing Day and she was interested in the food on the table. She managed to eat a bread stick and a mini onion baji by herself :)
Here I go again on my own....

Sorry but I can't see the pictures - just getting red crosses here. Is it just me? :o

I bought some Medised this morning. Charlotte took a spoonful no bother, and is now fast asleep. Hoping she feels better when she wakes up!

The pictures didn't work but I've changed them to links and they're working now.

Glad to hear Charlotte took the Medised.

Oh no, some not too happy babies at the moment!

Noticed this morning that there was a squeaking noise, and at first I thought it was something Samantha was sat on, so ignored it, then heard it again, and checked and she wasn't so then thought perhaps it was her bouncy chair rubbing against something else, but again nothing and then when I had her in my arms winding her, I heard it again. Everytime she cried there was a high pitched squeak at the end.

I felt a bit foolish phoning NHS Direct, and after going through all the Qs, the only thing unusual was this bloody squeaking and then they told me I needed to get her down to A&E. OMG !

We took her in, and 3 hours later, still squeaking, they confirmed that she was perfectly fine. So we are now back home, and she is still squeaking :rotfl:

  • izoomzoom, how bizarre, has the cause been found? I thought you were going to say she had ingested a squeky toy or something?

Sorry to hear about all the poorly babies over xmas, we went to the doc yesterday and now Jack and I are on antibiotics as we were just going downhill. I don't feel any better yet, but I've not been able to rest. I feel like a pile of poo and even when I did manage to get a lie down, I couldn't sleep, my head was too busy.

I managed to get DH a light box from argos, we still had some wedding vouchers left, so I hope it does the trick. The light bulbs previously suggested would be no good as DH needs to be able to transport it to work, where he'll use it most of the time.

Re brushing teeth. Commplete nightmare for us to start with, I never thought we would get there. The HV showed me a special hold so they can't wriggle free and you have to slide the brush in sideways. You only need a tiny weeny dab of paste to begin with and brush for only 10-20 secs, gently so not to put them off. DH can go like a bull at a gate with his own teeth, so I made sure he was very gentle brushing Jack's. After what like seemed ages and that I had the only child who wouldn't let me brush his teeth, he started complying by opening his mouth. We still only get 10-20 secs out of him, but there is less resistance. I also let him hold the brush afterwards and he will put it in his mouth to chew on. PS don't let them reach out for the toothpaste, Jack love to grab it and it flies out landing on the lounge carpet. Only made that mistake once!!!

Perservance is the key, we also took Jack to the bathroom with us to let him watch us brush our teeth and gave him his brush to hold. Very interested in us but not for me thanks!!! I'd say it took us 5-6 weeks of doing the same thing every night before he finally met us half way. I wonder if this is because he didnt' get his first tooth till 10.5 months and by then had a bit more understanding of what he allow and not. An earlier teether might be easier.

Glad someone asked about brushing teeth. Imogen's first one arrived 6 days before her first birthday! It has been slow coming through properly so we've only attempted brushing teeth for the last couple of days. Thanks for the tips Bay. Hope things perk up for you soon.
