iPhone or Galaxy 2?

But everything you just mentioned the SG2 can also do. Why do people keep making points that their Iphone can do 'this' and 'that' yet other Phones are still capable of doing them to the same extent? Sure, Iphone is nice and all, but it's really not the end-all product and there are alternatives in a similar manner, such as in the form of SG2. Not saying either is better than the other but i've looked at the Iphone and on a completely person level i wasn't too impressed with it.
Rather go with the SG2 which performs almost everything the exact same and then some, plus it has working (and very well done so) Flash which makes web browsing and such a real dream. I'm going to be a large internet user so this is a big plus in my book.
Once again, just to really hammer in the point, i personally prefer the SG2 but that doesn't mean i think it's better. Both have their pros and cons and for me the SG2 is going to be a better performer due to my personal preferences.0 -

Doesn't seem to be much of a debate here
I know this is only one site, but almost every review site gives at least the edge to SG2 over iphone4.
In the end it'll come down to personal choice, as [STRIKE]almost[/STRIKE] no one will use any phone to it's full potential.
I have neither, I've got a SE Xperia Arc and love it. It does everything I need.Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face - Mike Tyson0 -
And what exactly is your beef against born again Christians? Just because someone's found a better meaning to life doesn't mean they should be subject to ridicule and your nasty comments. Jealousy and ignorance on your part perhaps?
As for the person who has started this thread, just pop into an Apple store or a phone store and compare the iphone to any other phone on the market. In an Apple store you can spend hours on the demo phones without anyone bothering you. You should get a good feel of the phone and after 15 - 30 mins or so you'll know if you want it or not. Anyway, do let us know which phone you buy.
See I told you, deleted.mrochester wrote: »And I've said to you time and time again that there is more to making a good phone than just slapping together the fastest hardware. You also have to consider the OS and associated support. You're looking only at the spec sheet which means you are not looking at a huge part of what contributes to whether a phone is good or not; the OS.
OK so now its the OS that decides a good phone? If the SGS2 had iOS and the same level of support from Samsung as you get from Apple, then yes, I would agree it was the better phone.
Now its support of the OS?
Basically what you're saying is that if apple made the SGS2 it would be better than an iphone 4. Typical fanboi nonsense. However, as the SGS2 is running Android and doesn't have the same level of support as Apple, then I'd say the iPhone 4 is the better phone.
What exactly is wrong with the support for the SGS2?0 -

Actually you haven't said that multiple times you've only starting saying it after I provided proof about the hardware being better. Before that you were trying to pass the hardware off as better.Correct. Although it's hardly nonsense, you just disagree, but you're feeling threatened so you're lashing out with insults and derogatory comments. It just goes to show that you are incapable of accepting that other people's opinions differ to yours so you attempt to ridicule and undermine those who disgaree with you. It's all very childish and disrespectful.
Not lashing out just pointing out the hole in your argument which appears to be the only thing better than an iphone is another iphone.I can't just walk into the local Samsung shop and have my phone repaired/replaced.
Do apple have in-shop engineers?I would have to send it away and be without the phone for however many days/weeks it took them to do something about it. The convenience of being able to walk into an Apple shop and have any issue sorted out is a major boon for me. So yeah, that's what's wrong with support for the SGS2 (and any other Samsung product too).
Oh ok did they fix that antenna issue in-shop? Do they also replace broken screens in-shop and refuse to fix iphones with "water damage" in-shop? Or do you take it in and then send it away???
Still grasping at straws!:rotfl:0 -
Actually you haven't said that multiple times you've only starting saying it after I provided proof about the hardware being better. Before that you were trying to pass the hardware off as better.
The point I was making about the hardware was that in some respects the iPhone hardware is better than the SGS2, and in other respects the SGS2 hardware is better. You may or may not disgaree with this point, but the point was that whether the hardware was better or not is an opinion. Not lashing out just pointing out the hole in your argument which appears to be the only thing better than an iphone is another iphone.
That's not a hole in my argument, that's my opinion. Again, your opinion may differ. You would be wise to learn to respect other people's opinions.Do apple have in-shop engineers?
Yes, to my knowledge. Although they typically just replace the device so they may just have a centralised location for engineers.Oh ok did they fix that antenna issue in-shop? Do they also replace broken screens in-shop and refuse to fix iphones with "water damage" in-shop? Or do you take it in and then send it away???
I haven't got an antenna issue to fix, or a broken screen to fix, or any water damage to fix. If the problem with the device is covered by warranty, it's typically replaced on the spot. There certainly isn't a Samsung shop where I can receive the same level of service.
I now respectfully request you to stop 'trolling' my posts else I will start reporting your behaviour. You are just going to have to accept that my opinion differs to yours and that there isn't any amount of 'proof' you can supply to 'prove' that my opinion is wrong. Thank you.0 -
If only samsung were the richest company in the world
and the 'antennagate' was never an issue to me nor the countless iphone 4s which i sold. Applei s well known for its customer care and the iphone is the biggest selling handset worldwide. Fact

Samsung make 26% of the iPhone. Apple don't make a single part of it.Same as their computers, they rely on others to make and supply the parts too.
In terms of specs the SGS2 is better, the iPhone 4 played catchup with other handsets as will the next one. Lots of people are making a big thing about the new iPhone having an 8 megapixel camera, hardly new as was video calling on the 4.
However, the iPhone does feel nice in your hand but the closed OS, no drag and drop is a big issue for me hence i won't buy one. Some, not all buy the iPhone because they are told it's good and think that it can do things other phones can't.0 -

In terms of hardware there is no doubt the SGS2 wins, the iPhone doesn't come close, but for me iOS is the better software, OK its closed and now looks pretty dated but as they say it just works and alot of people like that.
Another area where Apple win is customer service, if you have a faulty unit just pop into the Genius Bar they will replace it there and then if they have it in stock or in my own case I had to post mine in, I had a replacement handset 2 days later, Samsung on the other hand will attempt to fix it and generally !!!!!! about, it could be a week or more you are without a handset.
And then we have a resale value, while both phones cost near enough the same price in store try and sell both on eBay, an old iPhone 4 costs £340+ when I tried to sell my almost new SGS2 on eBay 32GB I got £320 and the price of the SGS2 is dropping all the time while the iPhone 4 has held strong for 15+ months.0
