yeah, was too hard even for a toothbrush... the knife was good as it scraped it away. i have v hard water so i think its limescale!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
Hard water is a battle, vinegar is great on the limescale, been using it in my loo lately and it's fab so going to try it on the kettle, and washing machine! One day I might be more organised...........

vinegar in the kettle works well, you can heat it up a bit too while its in there. i think a bit of bicarb helps too, but i'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0

Morning All
Pleased its the bedroom thats one room that is generally under control but admittely its a bit more messy that normal at the moment. Need to wait until OH gets out of bed though (he works nights).
Have got something on this morning so at lunchtime will clean out my kitchen drawer that I neglected to do yesterday, swish bathrooms and hoover stairs then this afternoon will hit the bedroom.

congrats lilaclillie on arrival of first g'child.
Not much flying going on in the pipkin household today. Just about to get dds out of bed and ready for school, as we have to be out of the house by 8 for the asbestos removal - three flights of stairs walls have to be removed!
The kitchen looks like a complete nightmare, after cleaning the stairs of all clutter - no other place to dump it other than the kitchen and the pile of coats are still to go in there once breakfast is finished.
Right now, I could cry at the situation, so I thought I would give myself 10 minutes to have a cuppa and a browse on mse.
Hopefully, we can get back in the house between 4 and 5, so I prepared dinner yesterday, and have left some space by the sink to wash up breakfast dishes before we leave this morning.
One thing this has shown me though, is the amount of clutter we do have, so my amazon list of items to sell will be increasing in the not too distant future.
Have a nice day all.
Regards

Hi, Rach! Bicarb has plenty of uses (make it into a paste with a little water and it's great at cleaning tile grout). But don't mix bicarb (an alkali) with vinegar (an acid) as they will fiz and neutralise each other and then be of no use for anything.

MORNING everyone
Did ya miss me??? Lol, no I know you didn't (mutter mutter mutter)
Well I thought I'd best check in and let you know that I hadn't been admitted to hospital with exhaustion or been buried under my CHAOS..... but now I know I wasn't missed, lol....
Truth is I knew I was exhausted due to stress - I have the endency to get very sleepy when I'm hiding from something. This time it was contacting my mortgage company and the mountain of course work - so I tackled those yesterday as my F/L challenges.
I have one more assignment left (another horrible one) so I'll set that as my main challenge plus
Re tidy the kitchen- empty d/w
- refill
- swish & swipe units
Put in another wash load
Tonight - iron what is dry
Next week it is back to college for me and school for the boys (we didn't break up until the 22nd!)
I've yet to take down the trimmings - had planned to do once the boys were back in school as they tend to get in the way... but I won't be home without them until nest Thursday!!! (I guess I'd not thought that one through:o )
If I do well today I'm going to reward myself with a trip to Ikea to buy a rail for my mugs that I've wanted for over 6 months (I want one from B&Q, but Ikea's is much cheaper)
Good luck to everyone today, and well done to everyone who is still going strong. Only skimmed the posts, but these particularly caught my attention
Flis re household manual- try looking up an old thread called 'moggins household manual'. You should get lots of ideas from that.
Nikkie - lol at the need to store your stationery... Pukka pads anyone???
R.e. MOPS - after lots of trial and error I now use a string mop and bucket for washing the floor and a vileda that I can attach washablee/disposable cloths to - and sometime attatch my microfiber cloths (model is the one with a squirty feature)
Hugs
