Flylady Challenge - New Year, New You
Comments
-
Someone asked what should go in the control journal, I confess I don't follow FlyLady to to the letter, so rather than printing it it out I keep it as a Word document on my PC. Here is a list of the headings I use in my journal (won't bore you with the fine details):
Morning routine
Before bed routine
Basic weekly plan - things to do on set days
Favourite meals - for when I run out of ideas
Meal plan for week
Contents of freezer
Going away checklists - broken down by family member and different types of activity (e.g. sublists for taking car abroad and camping)
I find it's a lot easier to keep everything in one place like this. I use Outlook for all contacts, so I've never bothered to include this in the journal (and it's synchronised with my phone so it's always with me).
I also copied what I felt was relevant from the Christmas control section, but I've moved it out now. I found it helped me to get a lot more organised, and will definitely be using it again (or something similar next year).
I'm registered with FlyLady, and I do find the sheer number of emails a drag, but I scan a few of them quickly and sometimes pick up useful tips. I delete all the reminders immediately and anything that looks like it's trying to sell me something. I think that the most useful tips have been to fill up the car with petrol on a given day each week, to plan lunches as well as evening meals and to clear out my fridge the day I plan my meals.

Well, I started my control journal today. Have got my morning and evening routines in there for starters, will gradually add to it over the next few weeks.
Ok, so list for tomorrow:
1. Get washed and dressed
2. Go to doctors for 9am
3. Take bag of stuff to charity shop
4. Take cards to card recycling bin
5. Polish Dining Room
6. Ironing
7. Another hour on topic web work
8. Take down Christmas tree (sob!)
9. Wash white load
10. Hang up white load
11. Take down any dry clothes
12. Package and post one item
Am also going out for lunch with my Nan, so that is probably about all I will have time for.Sorting my life out to give a better life to my:heartsmil 2 gorgeous boys :heartsmil0 -
Felt crummy last night before bed and worse this morning - definitely a cold starting - so decided to take it a bit easier today. Made a shorter list and managed to get it done.
- Shined sink, copied two recipes from library books, sorted out and posted a package and a couple of letters, cleaned sink, toilet and bath, plus tiles and did a general dust/wipe-down of the other surfaces in the bathroom.
Welcome to all the newcomers to this thread. :hello: :hello:Sealed Pot Challenge 5 - #1742 :j0 -
Well girls, I am sorry to admit that I have done no flying, but have spent the day doing lots of productive paperwork.
The sinks are still shiny though and as the OH and children are still in France until the weekend, there hasn't been much made in the way of mess along the way!

She's been slacking - I've only received this just now, and I've been checking since I got back from w***
Today, clean cobwebs in your dining room. Does the light fitting need a dust, too? Have a sweep of the skirting boards, while you're there.
Easy, DH did this when he put up the decorations, and he'll do it again at the weekend, when he takes them down  :j :T

Congratulations Lilaclillie, hope all is well with the new arrival, forgot to post that bit before.
Well the bathroom is done :j just have to put the shower curtain up when I goto bed as need to take the step stool up because I am too smallI have thrown a bin bag full of stuff out. It's the first time it's looked that good since we decorated but here's my confession, might shock some!
I haven't bought any toiletries since September, because I knew I had a lot needed using up. In the bathroom I found all these new unopened items, threw the opened stuff out as didn't know how long had been open and wanted to start off new. Aswell as many others inc loads of samples which I have put into a case.
7 bottles of Mint Source shower gel (DPs fave)
3 bottles of other shower gel for DP
12 bottles of shower gel for me
8 bottles of hair conditioner (but no shampoo :rotfl: just used the kids)
6 bottles of kids shampoo
8 cans of mens deoderant
6 womens deoderant and sprays
 And that is after not buying any for 4 months  My bathroom is tiny and half of the stuff was stashed in boxes. Now I know where a huge amount of my money went last year (the Mint Source alone is worth £14)
Anyway while I was in there I found some lovely foot scrub stuff, some deep hair conditioning, mud mask and a few other things so I lashed the lot on so I could get rid of the bottlespamper time!
Got some steak out to make a stew tomorrow, eBay envelopes sorted, off for a cuppa then going to sort the statements out. Then just the dogs to sort, kitchen & L/R floors to vacuum and mop, and shower curtain then bed timeDecided will do the cupboards tomorrow.
Goodnight allOne day I might be more organised...........

This was completly out of the blue and never been mentioned throughout the pregnancy. It was the best offer I have ever had.
So spent the day at hospital waiting, then watching, my 1st grandchild born.

Today is the day for doing your bedrooms.
Once you've done your dailies then head up to your bedroom. Strip bed and load washing machine. Remove all dirty laundry from bedroom. Put away any clean clothes. Hoover floor, close all drawers!! Open window and let some fresh air in. Sort through one drawer or section of your wardrobe and if you haven't worn it in 12 months then bag it and put aside for the charity shop.
Get to the computer desk and tidy it.
