  • ooohhh that sounds really yummy.

Do you think I could substitute kidney beans for baked beans, or would that be really weird? OH is not a big bean fan. Perhaps lentils?

I'm useless with cooking.. but trying!

    Thanks for the idea angela!

    morning everyone - just about.

Thanks for all the support yesterday. It was much appreciated. I took it easy. Thankfully i stopped at home, as my sister rang to say my nephew has chicken pox. So i'll be avoiding them for a bit as i think 11 weeks old is too young for the baby to catch it. If he were a bit bigger i might have took him to catch it and got it over with. ;)

I haven't done a lot yet today as i've tried to play with charlie. I'm trying to help him to sit up, and then in a few weeks hopefully he can go in the bumbo and be more self sufficient. He sat in his bouncer chair yesterday just playing with his hands for about an hour.

Lilaclillie - enjoy your time with the new baby. I'm sure your DIL will appreciate any help you give her. My MIL was fab at cooking food and making cups of tea, and just providing adult company and babysitting while i had a soak in the bath.

    Right, done so far:
    • WM on - bedding done, and needs to go in TD
    • pile of jeans to wash
    • cleaned up cat sick
    • tea got out of freezer
    • swish and swipe of bathroom

I need to do an experiment and try to wash my angora furry cushion cover as the cat was sick on that. Gutted as it cost £20, doesn't have washing instructions so i'm guessing should only be wiped, and also because i found it when i sat on the cushion. Will try the handwash cycle in the WM.

i daren't wash the tiles in the bathroom as there is serious danger they would fall off. medicine cabinet is tidy, but i do need to clean the mirrored front and the shaving mirror so i'll do that. I shall also stick the mats through the WM as i haven't done them since before the baby. A bit grim i know. The radiator is a bit dirty so that needs a wipe, and then i will stick towels and flannels through the washer.

I think i will also try to put some more of the christmas clothes pressies away but that involves me calling in the fashion police to send some of the old stuff to the charity shop. ;)

Not so much a baby anymore but an 11 month old romping toddler :D Into everthing and if I have a bath with her in the room I get everything thrown in with me or she wants to get in when im trying to wash my hair, so much easier to wait till she naps ;)

Lilaclillie - congratulations on your first grandchild, what a lovely experience for you to be there at the birth. My mum was there for mine but I was rushed into theatre at the last moment so she missed my daughter being born which was a shame, but hey! there's always the next one :)

    Thursday 4th January.

Today I am absolutely shattered, I had about 2 hours sleep in all and in short bursts. Smallfry was up for an hour and a half and the next one up wasn't much better and ended up in my bed by 4am. Therefore I reserve the right to do very little all day!

    [STRIKE]WM x2
    TDx2
    DWx2
BMx2 (DH is on bread patrol at the moment.. he seems to like playing!)
Fold dry clothing and put away[/STRIKE]
put up cotbed in other room so smallfry can be banished.
wash my bedding I never got round to doing yesterday because putting away the tree and finding the front room took way longer than anticipated.
    School runs... *cry*
    sort uniforms for tomorrow
take £20 round to my mother for her to change into £1 coins for dinner money for the 2 large chillies.
DH hanging new bedroom door... he was going to taunt it and video the process but the camera on his phone is pants.

    This month..

Reshuffle my bedroom once smallfry has been banished.
think!! about losing some christmas lard.
    3 bills still to pay
new toilet installed in the bathroom... if it doesn't get done, I at least need to save for it

That list is scary looking I may need a nap before I can do anything else!

Right, lets see how I get on today. Would be nice to have a day when I actually achieved everything on my list!!

Not doing too badly, considering I have had my niece to look after and she has only just gone.

Have decided to start a control journal, it was the one bit of Flylady that I hadn't gotten around to. I am putting in pages for morning and evening routines, then sheets for daily/weekly and monthly tasks. Does anyone have any other suggestions what should be in there or what you have put in there?

  • Ok so I'm a bit late but I'm in.
Had a bit of an upheavel over the past month and now want to get my life sorted. Im now living on my own for the first time in 6 years after my partner split up with me. Had to move house just as i started a new job and it was all a bit of a rush. I'm now in a sweet little cottage with just me and the cat (made darn sure i was getting her! :D ) Anyway I have been there a month and have now just started to get everything into place. I spent the period between Christmas and New Year painting the place (it hadnt seen a good clean or a lick of paint for some years!) and getting it so i could happily cook on the stove  !

Anyway I really need to get the place more un-cluttered and to my standards of clean, then stay on top of things. And next time i move there wont quite be so much stuff!

I spent last night filling and sorting all my paperwork and came away with a huge list of things to do. Im slowly plodding my way through them during my lunch break at work!!

Im planning on modifying my household manual for my new house and putting the plans into action and keping on-top of the cleaning. There is only 1 problem - I have no Stardrops  . I used the last of them up cleaning our old house so there was no chance of us loosing the deposit.

Anyway I must go and get on with my to-do list, then tonights task is to update my household manual and then I'm off flying.

In advance thanks everyone who will help keep my on track with their inspirational posts! Keep it up!

rach you should only need to do this once not every day as once it's done it's easy to keep it clean and shiny with a good wipe round and drying it afterwards. The bleaching etc is only for a really dirty sink.

thanks, i kind of thought this but wasn't sure! my sink wasn't bad at all, i think i'll combine using the bleach with bleaching my dishcloths every now and again!

soooo nice to get up to a clean and clutter-free kitchen!

So far I`ve made all 3 beds,

    Done one load of washing.

Took last nights wet work clothes to get dryed at ex`s.

Used his bath and his hot water.Had to wash it out before I got in it and of course afterwards.

    Sorted one double cupboard out.

Sorted all medicines, half of them I still dont know what they are for? Will have to google them, incase I need to keep. They are all nicely put in a large plastic container out of reach of the kids.

Threw all wage slips out,and even found a receipt(spell?) from march 1998!And I also found my Gall Stone in a sample bottle.

Will crack on with the rest later.

Quick Question. Is it Baby Oil or Moose or Hairspray you put on mirrors to stop them steaming up? I know it`s one of those three, just not which one.

Paperwork is just about caught up with and sorted. The only things that aren't done are
    • bank statements pre-2001/02 financial year that need scanning and shredding
    • OH's papers... I need him to go through them although I have sorted them into "AFAIK can go", "do you really need to keep it?", and "I don't know" piles, excluding the ones I have filed :rotfl:
    • General files for each of us which is where I sling things like letters from the school I need to keep hold of until the event happens, post, temporary reference (like DD's letter to Santa which I'm keeping to use for birthday ideas ;) )
    • Instruction booklets
I need to go and buy another accordian file for instruction booklets & things like that which don't fit in my "tax/grab it if there is a fire" or "Bills" ones  The three accordian files will be the equivalent size of one of the drawers in the file cabinet :j

Moggins - Thanks for the idea of storing tools etc in the cabinet. I have storage boxes for that, but I have no where for all our spare stationary (we have tonnes of it as people keep buying DD pencils and I'm addicted to buying pads :o ) or somewhere to store the birthday cards etc so I may rehome the cabinet into the understairs cupboard and use it for that.

I have a feeling I will be needing to do a livingroom re-shuffle soon as I'm having ideas  B&Q (rather than Argos ;) ) here I come. :o:eek::rotfl:
