Waterlily24: Stunning kitchen! Are the stainless steal doors easy to keep clean, or do they show all finger prints and marks? I love the look, but wonder if it is a kitchen that will needs a huge amount of maintenance.
It's really encouraging to read this thread, as we are embark on getting a new kitchen and were thinking Ikea was the best place to go."Live each day as if it were your last and garden as though you will live forever"

We went for the stainless steel one with the larder and cooker housing in black and I love it, we installed it ourselves (except for the electrics) and hubby thought it was good quality for the price. It's been installed for about 8 months, these are the early pics.
We didn't buy their electrical stuff (cooker etc).

Hi pookiewn
Thank you.
Yes, unfortunately it does show a lot of finger prints etc but it is easy to clean, I wanted something different. I'm not too keen on white and my last two kitchens have been wood so wanted a change.
Have to say I love it but I would wouldn't I. lol:o0 -

Well, yes, but it's your kitchen so why not!
Thank you for the honest answer. As long as it's just a swish with an ecloth it might be a very good consideration. I had brushed steel in another kitchen and it was a pain in the proverbial to clean and kept staining. Trying to find a way to have the stainless steel neff ovens without it looking out of place, so this might have solved the problem. That's what I've got but when we bought the kitchen you couldn't get the cooker housing or the larder cupboard in stainless so we went for black, I think it sets the oven off quite nicely. I quite like the two together.
Oooh and the top cabinets aren't stainless either, I think they are aluminium.
I've got a feeling that they now do either the top cabinets or the larder and oven housing in stainless but can't remember which. I thought it was strange that they didn't do both but I'm glad they didn't because I probably would have chosen them instead.:)0 -
I have had a view on fitted kitchens for many years. I see nothing today to change that view. After fitting MFI Magnet B&Q and several others. I've come to the conclusion that's there are only 2 varieties; cheap rubbish and expensive rubbish:eek:
Maybe that's over scathing but what I'm getting at is that you simply get reconstituted chip board cabinets in even some high end units. They are all largely of a kind and all will do the job.
It's the quality of the fitting that matters and the choice of doors to give the desired effect.;)
Avoid MDF coming into contact with the floor or worktops, ie, plinths and worktop upstands, they will "blow" unless you are exceptionately carefull.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
O.P.: have you checked out this? We use Ikea units in all of our renovations with either granite or oak worktops but as said by others, source the appliances and sinks elsewhere.
Good luck with your project.

Hi typeractive,
It's the ABSTRAKT, high-gloss white with oak work tops and side panels. Had it 2 years now and still looks good as new and is very easy to clean
