Ikea kitchen quality - Any good?

We moved into a house with an ikea kitchen and fully intended to replace it as it didn't completely fulfil our needs (and also because we are a little bit snobby
).
However, with costs spiralling elsewhere in the house we actually just changed the bits we didn't like- so easy to do! We prefer drawers and so we changed a cupboard, another cupboard housed the boiler (which we moved) and so we have additional space now. We also changed the plinths as they were matt chrome and we prefer white (to match the cupboards).
In short, I am converted and have no hesitation in recommending Ikea kitchens.Saving for an early retirement!0 -
We have a white Ikea kitchen and we are very happy with the quality. Like another poster I love the fact that we can pop back to Ikea and buy accessories (ie pull out metal trays) for the units which are sooo useful and not expensive. The kitchen looks great with a black worktop and black floor tiles. Walls are painted charcoal and light grey and accessories are chrome/stainless steel. DH fitted it and hasn't done a bad job. He likes to show off his handiwork to anyone who comes around and various workmen have praised the job he has done and said it is as good as a professional could do.0

Even though I work for another player in the market, I would definitely say that for what you pay for them, overall they represent a good deal.
This sums up my opinion of Ikea kitchens also.
Value for money, they are hard to beat.
I don't like their worktops or sinks, but the basic fabric of the kitchen is tough to beat and does exactly what it needs to.
I also use alot of their kitchen units as storage in my business premises for the same reason.
If voids were an issue I tended to batten the units off the wall and fit 650mm or 700mm deep worktops.0 -

For those of you who had Ikea kitchen installed.. who did the floor/walls? I would like a new kitchen, but it needs complete refurbishment.. tiles removed from floor and walls, and I would like a small window I have to the living room covered... would people from Ikea do this work too? Or would I need to employ someone else to strip out the current kichen, do the floors and walls, and then call Ikea..?
It just scares me a lot how long I might be without a kitchen in the house... (no cooking, no washing...)0 -

We had a local kitchen fitter do all of ours except the floor which we got from a specialist Flooring company (it was a Karndean floor).0 -
Have included a picture of my white kitchen - hope it works! I just wanted to add that I love my built in ironing board which is a brilliant invention.0

That's lovely, are they the Adel (I think that's how you spell it) doors? That's what we're thinking of getting, but with oak worktops.
Thanks for posting the pics. Any more from posters would be much appreciatedYes, yes I am! :dance:0
