  • Hello, I have a question, my Natwest Bank sent me 6 years of statements, I have gone through them with a fine tooth comb and find charges of £3047 over the time period. Now when I send the 2nd letter asking for the money do I have to list on another sheet the charges. I would like to thank Natweststaffmember for the info as I thought the monthly charges had gone up and now I know I can distinguish between what i was overcharged and what i wasn't.

    Thanks

HERE is an example of how I list the charges out when writing to the bank.

  • So I set them out in a list with the letter that is downloaded from this site. What are the chances of Natwest closing my accounts (I have 3)
  • Hi,

I am in the middle of going through my statements from Natwest to work out how much they owe me.
On the statments I have charges for £12 every month, which I think are for having a gold account (I want to cancel this eventually) can I claim back the money for this too do you think?
  • No you can't this is not a penalty charge but a service charge. Have a read of post 4 in the Reclaim Help Thread link in my signature.
  • Thank you both very much

No, Im sure I never asked for it. If I want to claim it back should I add it to the standard letter or am I best just to ignore it and just it cancelled? Dont want it to affect the other charges Im reclaiming

No wonder people get in a muddle if they never reconcile their bank statements. Just cancel it, it will take about 1 minute next time you go in the bank. that is £144 a year saved completely painlessly. Enough to pay for your TV license.

Hi, this is my first time on this forum.

I have accounts with Natwest: a current account
from 1999 where excess borrowing is charged at £3.50 per day - can I claim these monies?
An Advantage Gold Account showing BANK CHARGES varying from £9.00, £29.00 and £38.00 - I was wondering whether I could claim the difference/total of £29.00 and £38.00 as the charges seem to increase when an overdraft has occured in that monthly period? The norm appears to be £9.00 in bank charges where no overdraft has occured.

I would be grateful if anyone could advise me.

I'll merge this with a NatWest thread regarding their Advantage Gold Account in a minute where a NatWest employee explains this. What I would say is you need to check when and how much the Gold Account service charges were as they seem to have changed over the years. The service charge for this account can't be claimed.

I have a query in relation to advantage gold fees and charges on the account.

I intially had an advantage gold account but then I changed it to a normal current account, I don't recall the date I did this but the top of my statements stopped having the words advantage gold printed on the top so I assume that is when the account was altered. is this correct?

Also I have a number of charges that are £20. Now I know about the fact that I can not claim for the £6 fee for the account but what I can't work out is when the unarranged borrowing fee changed from £14 to £20. It clearly states that at some point this charge became £20 in your original post:

"The statement may say charge £20 so that is £14 Unarranged Borrowing and £6 ADGD fee, or £29 which is
£20 Unarranged Borrowing and £9 ADGD fee, or £37 which is Unarranged Borrowing and £9 ADGD, or
£38 which is £28 Unarranged Borrowing and £9 ADGD, or finally £40 which is £28 Unarranged Borrowing and
    £12 ADGD fee."

Could you please provide any info you have about the dates that the charges increased because I think it will have a real effect on how much I can claim.
