I'm using Scalifax in the best way possible. They are paying me to bank with them twice over, two lots of £5 each month, i make sure my account starts the month with £1 and ends with £1 so they can't charge me anything in the mean time.
Ooh interesting, how does this work? Well done to you anyway!
I was pleasantly surprised by the credit report, ok there were some yellow bits but no nasty surprises. T's will be a lot worse though as he ignores EVERYTHING. Hence why I'm now in charge. That'll be another £10 earned once we work out if we can use quidc* twice for essentially the same thing.
Off to the museum tomorrow with 6yo, free entry, free ride down there (T's working in Manchester) and free lunch as my dad took us to pizza hut for tea and I brought half home, superskinflint me :rotfl:Starting my journey July 2011. I found the cure for shopaholicism! Go the The Lowry 'Designer' Outlet, it's so cr*p even I couldn't buy anything!!! :rotfl:
Think I've done something to the hubby, we had a free afternoon and when the Trafford Centre was mentioned he said we shouldn't as we'd end up wasting money we don't really have. Blimey, he's caught the bug! So glad though as I'm in the early stages of recovery and the £100 I paid of the CC could have easily gone back on!!!Starting my journey July 2011. if you put a certain amount in your current account each month then they pay you a fiver - i just essentially keep moving money back and forth. Also if you spend x amount on their credit card then you get another fiver, so i put my petrol and normal housekeeping etc on it, and then pay in full each month.0

Hmm, pondering how much money one person can make on ebay... 4 months till hubby's birthday and I need to buy his present without the use of a cc as that is not in keeping with my good money saving self.

Evening all, thanks for the support :T
Well I'm getting there, weekdays are quite easy to do, I spent 60p on an ordered library book and that was it today. Weekends however are still a bit spendy. Suppose I can't stop buying everything (after all, poor kids can't only have jeans with holes in the knees!) but it's just great fun seeing the bank account a week off my payday and not up to the OD limit.
Done an hour of ironing tonight so feet up and internet time I think, don't want to overdo it for a Monday :rotfl:Starting my journey July 2011. i reserve books from my library all the time but generally don't have to pay. How did you order yours? i do it online which is why it's free, would that be an option for you? could just be that your council makes you pay but it's worth investigating0

All ordered books are 60p at our libraries, whether it's from a local one or the central storage, I do it online too. I don't mind though as it's a lot less than buying them which once upon a time I did.Starting my journey July 2011. too true it's cheaper than buying, our service only charge if you make the library people do the reservation for you, or if you want postal notification that the book has arrived anything else is free.0
