mine took a payment by card and DD in the same month despite saying it was too late for the DD. I invoked the guarentee got my money back but they didn't remove the second payment from my card balance for over 6 months. I even called them a few times and emailed them to say they'd made a mistake. I gave them the information on a plate and they still couldn't get it right!
  • I completely agree, it seems they want to be deliberately irritating or just make it as hard as possible for us to pay, this with the fact that the amount they take is less than they charge a month I'm thinking this is purely to make money out of us. Well no more Mr Santander, I will outsmart you!!! Paid £100 off it on Saturday as intended before they upped the limit. I'd have only frittered that money anyway. Also paid some into the Santander a/c, I'll use some of this to pay nursery and hopefully this might make the account 'active' and keep them from being so bothersome!

We went into Halifax bank last week and asked to upgrade the CC to the new 12% one (ours is 21%) now as "responsible Lenders" we thought it would be no problem!! No, they turned us down, so an angry D said freeze my credit card im not using it and once it's paid off we will close the account!! One very good customer LOST! Well done Halifax!

this whole responsible lenders thing is a load of rubbish. If they were really responsible lenders, they would jump at charging lower rates, freezing charges and interests for people experiencing financial difficulty etc. It's all a rather unsuccessful PR stunt.

I think banks are just there to make themselves profits and the whole responsible lending thing isn't about reducing interest rates to make it easier for customers its about being able to refuse things that are requested and then saying 'but we're doing this for your own good!'

I've realised the banks are only interested when your finances look good, then they want to sell you every loan/cc under the sun. Funnily enough they don't offer us anything any more :rotfl:Just made me more determined they won't beat me. Took note of the offsetting blurb and have moved my holiday funds to the bank of mum just in case they try anything else stupid.

Max - bet Halifax is high on your hitlist after Burtons now, they know how to drive customers away. Just think, only 13 months to no more nursery fees :j

Today I was naughty and bought a warm almond croissant. It was lovely :D

Picked up 6yo's passport form today and only spent the price of a stamp! No tat bought in the post office or diversion back to work via the co-op, think I'm getting the hang of this but it was weird!

Also been a big girl and read the meters for the first time in months... to find I'm in credit woo hoo! DD reduced by £47 a month which I have now promised to pay to Santander instead :)

Must get T so sort out his ex-work so we know where we stand with them and their stupid overpayment malarky!

Total spends for the day still ridiculous IMO, £20 to Park for Christmas, £15 to the window cleaner (2 months), 75p stamp and the yummy croissant at 70p. Makes you realise where it all goes if nothing else though!

Got £10 cashback for finally getting my credit reports too, and they're not as bad as I thought!

Now, should I eat the cake T has left in the fridge?... :rotfl:

Nah, I think this 'do I really want it, do I really need it' attitude might be creeping in elsewhere too!

Bought another croissant this morning though, so naughty (but I really wanted it, and needed it!!!).

MissShoes, forgot to say, I completely agree. 'Responsible Lending' means 'we're responsible for making a big fat bonus for our management' :rotfl:

yay for cashback and yay for your credit report not being as bad as you expected that's always good.
I'm using Scalifax in the best way possible. They are paying me to bank with them twice over, two lots of £5 each month, i make sure my account starts the month with £1 and ends with £1 so they can't charge me anything in the mean time. :)
