I figured big pink letters might shock me more! It worked, I'm half a bar of chocolate down now!

I'm trying to transfer my new PMA to ignoring the muppet next door who has just started mowing his lawn at 9pm with his noisy petrol mower. At least it's drowned out the sound of his continually yapping dog ('Buster', I'm not sure if it's meant to be ironic but our rabbit is bigger and scarier!).
We have a lovely neighbour who likes mowing the lawn at 8am on Sunday so you have my sympathy.
Perhaps you could introduce your rabbit to Buster? :rotfl:

Thanks, good luck with yours, I'm looking forward to getting mine below £20k, that'll feel like I've really turned a corner.

I've piled up a load of stuff in the dining room to ebay, I've been putting it off while hubby's working away as I don't seem to find the time, however I'm setting myself an item a day challenge, I could do that at lunch time I'm sure

OP, you do realize 'Santander' is Spanish for 'Incompetent'.

If you get through a lot of toilet rolls, try buying bulk from eBay, much cheaper than supermarkets.

I have a feeling that Santader have lowered your cc limit below what you owe so they can add-on charges for going over drawn. If they try that one, every time you get a charge, write a letter rejecting it on the grounds that it was they who lowered the maximum lending amount on the card, not you. If they argue the case, file a complaint to both the FSA and the FSO.

Also, did you have PPI on any of your loans/cc's ?. If so, time to use the template letter that resides somewhere in the Debt Free stickies. Stick a reclaim in, then use the refunds to clear as much of the Santander debt as you can.

I used to have 5 cc's, but by stoozing and clearing balances, I'm now down to 3.

Ooh, thanks for all of that! I will be looking into all 3. I didn't take ppi on mine but I know T had it on his MBNA one (now paid off). :T

I've just realised despite moaning about Santander, I forgot to include their o/d so grand total is actually £27,337.76. Darn it.

Although today is another NSD for me, I have remembered that being paid monthly and paying nursery every 4 weeks means one pay day is going to be for 2 sets of fees and will only include one salary sacrifice voucher. That's almost £1050 payable to nursery this month... aargh! It's never ending!!!!!!

Darn it. £2.39 spent on bunny food. So much for another NSD. How on earth does anyone get out of debt? MOT and tax from the next wage packet too. As well as a wedding which includes a hotel stay. Stressing as I have to find the holiday spends yet too, I have so far £700 for a family of 4, 2 weeks in Florida. Pass the wine please someone! :(

  • I think I am destined to be in debt and on MSE forever, I always think I have things under control, but it doesnt seem to be going down. I sometimes think an easier option would be to go bump or an IVA but I really want to pay this horrid debt off as at the end of it, we spent it, and we manage to pay minimums each month (albeit not a fat lot else but hey ho) and one day I reckon, we will be debt free - I will probably feel like I have won the lottery when I only have normal bills to pay ;-)
    Just keep swimming!

I wonder too sometimes whether we'll ever be debt free but I have to believe it and keep going or whats the point.
Bunny food is completely neccessary so don't worry about not having a NSD.

Morning, feeling back on positive track today. T gets paid tomorrow and I'm going to try some clever shuffling to get Santander off my back for another month. I'm intending to pay a chunk in then pay the bills out of it. I know it's my own fault for moving T's wage to Natwest when he changed jobs, that's why they're getting antsy, but I had to do it to take control of the money or we'd never have got there. This could backfire if they pull the o/d but worth a shot! Also wondering if Natwest would increase the o/d there so it's all in one place. Again, worth an ask I suppose. Does anyone have experience of this?

Bit of good news though, T's been told he has a weekend working in Manchester and his boss said he can maybe do it the weekend of the wedding (it's just a night do), and they'll pay for the hotel. Amazing what a good night's sleep can do to your mindset! :D

I honestly think IVAs and bankruptcy have their places but they also impact your credit record far harsher than managing to do it without. All I seem to pay are the minimums and only recently realised that that doesn't even cover the interest so was actually increasing the debt

The sense of achievement when you've got there will be incredible and you get to be part of this fabulous little community in the mean time :)
