I have contacted the company who host the web site, advising them of the possible scam.

The CEO says "we'll review and if necessary, take down the site asap".

I wish the Forum Team would hurry up and delete this thread

We do people on the site want rid of this thread ?? and why would you read it and bother if it doesnt effect you ?

People have been scammed and we are letting others know so this does not happen to anyone else, also this thread is allowing us to communicate with other ideas and help hopefully get our money back .

    Why is that wrong ?

I too cannot understand why halibut2209 seems to think this thread is a smear campaign of some sort.

    It seems to me that:

    a) a surprisingly large number of us are extremely concerned about non-delivery of goods that we have paid for

    b) attempts to contact the ebuy4u have apparently failed

    c) there is no evidence on the web site that it is a limited company, nor does it say "ebuy4u is a trading name of ..."

    d) there is no VAT number shown on the web site, which is either a contravention or means they turn over less than the VAT threshold

    e) the fact that the web site looks (mostly) professional is simply a reflection of the - very good - ecommerce software and service they use

    f) however the web site contains amateur spelling mistakes, with the Help and FAQ pages being pretty much identical

    g) the fact that they offer free shipping to *all* worldwide locations should ring alarm bells

Well, let's see. A dozen new users signing up on the same day purely to complain about 1 company? A google search doesn't come up with any other people complaining.

I don't believe in coincidence, but I do believe in Occam's Razor. Smear campaign by 1 or 2 people who have either had a bad experience or some personal grudge with the aim of putting this thread high up in a google search.

Of course, I shall glady apologise should I be proven wrong.

It is a fast moving thread, getting more "love" than most other issues on this section of the forum. The "usual" way threads seems to run on here is to get posts some distance apart.

It is an ... odd ... thread.

That much is very clear to someone who reads the forums a bit.

I'm just thinking perhaps halibut2209 is the scammer. Why would I bother warning others about a scam if it wasn't true?! Pointless. I've never had a reason to register on this website before - I actually found the thread by googling ebuy4u scam. If halibut2209 had £225 taking from his/her account and not received their goods then I'd expect a complaint listed here too. I spent a few hours of my day yesterday reporting the issue to my credit card company, ringing Trading Standards and re-ordering the item on Amazon - something I probably should have done in the first place.

Sorry to hear about your problems but I believe Hallibut is pointing out the fact so many newbies are posting about 1 company in 1 day. It is a little odd. If you think about the problems posts like this could cause a legitimate company if someone decided to post lies, it could well come back on MSE for allowing the posts to remain. He is just giving his opinion on the situation from another perspective. Doesn;t mean he's right but he has a point.
