imatt, you stated that JCP offers little if anything to help so surely by being referred to a Work Programme provider the additional help that people are asking for may be more readily available.

    Lets hope you're right!

To be fair, I was going by past performances. I guess one has to reserve proper judgement with the WP. It perhaps needs 6 months or so to bed in to see how well or otherwise it's doing.

You sound like someone who tried their best under trying circumstances.

Sent my letter to the DWP and a copy to the jobcentre/BDC, almost two weeks ago and have heard nothing. Posted my letter to the headquarters of my provider today (recorded del), and will be going to their local branch in person this week. I will hand them a copy of the same letter, and refuse to sign anything that gives them permission to use my data.
well i hope it works out for you. please keep us informed with any news.

Whatever the jobcentre has unlawfully sent them, that they dont tell you. Plus everything else once you have signed. Name, address, tel no, NI details, CV, some even ask for bank details etc.,
if they asked for bank details i would say i dont have a bank account.

I would be very cautious following information from the website publicised by the OP.
By not attending Work Programme interviews a JCP adviser would almost certainly have doubts about your availability to work and would also question that you're actively seeking work and have to suspend your claim whilst a decision maker looked into the case.
i agree that its very risky. its much better to just play along and if they ever take the pee just take the pee back. all within the rules of course.

well no I do not agree to anyone having my bank details, ni number and the like. JCP even lose forms and personal info so why would I trust a thrid party. I am not disagreeing to doing the work programme just the info they give out with out my consent.

They can have my address as you can get that in the phone book but why would they need anything esle?
the problem is if you refuse to give certain info their response is likely to be we need that to be able to have you on the course. you could then find yourself getting sanctioned for refusing to take part. thats why it is better to do like i have said in a previous post. just say you dont have a bank account if they ask for bank details. they will of course ask how do you get your benefit then. you can then just say in a post office card account.

I have been on the work programme for the last month and can honestly say hand on heart it has been the best thing that has happened since I became unemployed

the staff at my local office have shown genuine effort and enthusiasm to get me a job (just got me an interview, my first in along time)

if you are genuine, want to work, are a bit flexible you have absolutely nothing to fear, believe me no-one was more sceptical and suspicious than me!
will you feel the same in 6 months time i wonder.

A: Similar schemes such as New Deal, Flexible New Deal have been failures. If they were such a success, why one program after another after another?

I agree and as you go on more and more of them the more you are unlikely to get one.

so then you dont sign it? why give someone the offer of signing it or not if they REALLY want you to sign it?

If I don't sign it then what? They already have my info?

Maybe everyone who was refered to the work prgramme should have asked the JCP a bit more about it, I know I will this Friday & if they are sending me there I want info on it
the provider may already have your info but the form the provider is likely to want you to sign is so that they can pass your details onto potential employers. all that means really is your cv.

If you don't want to go on the work program, that's fair enough. Just don't expect to continue getting your benefits. You have 12 months signing on before you get moved to the program, is that not long enough?
once you are on it you are pretty much on it forever unless you get a job. this is because long term unemployed only get 3 months breathing space after the 2 years and then they will be refered back again. it will be interesting to see how providers treat those people who they will never see the back of, ever.
