of course this only applies if refered for a shift work job. they will still continue to avoid appling for shiftwork voluntarily.
Like I said I am not sure people who work in accounts do shifts!0 -
So I dont have to be able to work ANY hours? Not sure where they are going to find these jobs advertised and how they are going to put me forward. They are not an employment agency.
Refered me for jobs? No but they have done serches on the system but they are the same as the job points and http://jobseekers.direct.gov.uk which I was doing on my own already. Not seen an adviser since before the May bank holiday as two appointments were cancelled by the job centre and then for the next mth I only signed as they had no replacement for the adviser I used to see who moved jobs.
within the jobseekers agreement there is an allowance to restrict your hours. so long as you are reasonable when doing this then they should allow it. the fact that i have recently been allowed to put restricted hours back into mine tells you this. some advisers are so'n'so's and dont allow it.
providers find jobs by looking at websites of employment agencies and jobcentre plus. they often have their own in house site were they have a selection of jobs specifically for their use. they also regularly contact employers to ask if they have anything and are willing to consider their clients.
the jobcentre does a jobseach for me every time i sign on. if there is anything suitable i get refered for it. what that means is they record it on the system and give me a print out of the details. the jobs they find arent always the same as on the job points oddly. i have seen jobs on the job points while waiting that dont appear on screen when they do a search. there have also been jobs that appear when they do a search that werent on the job points. there must be a real shortage of jobs in what you do if they never ever have anything suitable when they do a search.
once you are on the work programme you will no longer see an adviser at the jobcentre and signing on will most likely be a quick in and out.0 -

Week 1 you sign for example and Week 2 you see your adviser for a job search a talk over problems etc. I have not seen the week 2 perosn for 3 mths.
If you have no dependants then you can not restrict the hours, that's what he told me
LOL - I never said I have not applied for a job on job seekers direct, did I? I said they have never shown me anything that I hadnt already seen.
I was told I had to use the job seekers direct site and phone for a search and apply for minimum wage jobs which I have doen and still do and not had anything back from any of the jobs I have applied from job seekers direct.
No there are loads of jobs in accounts just that no big companies with good jobs advertise on job seekers direct.
you say 'providers find jobs by looking at websites of employment agencies and jobcentre plus.' but I am doing that already and they wont support you in going to the agencies so they will be wasting their time.
And I am not looking for local work so they need to be able to contact employers all over London to be any use at all.0 -

yes so when I was out of work 13 weeks I dropped my salary from 25k to 11,600k and widened from Accounts to Admin - so was and still am applying for that kind of thing too. Office workers do not do shifts as I know no one who does
There is the rule - if you have no dependants you have to be available at any time and no it can't be changed now.0 -
when you have been signing on for 6 mths you go once a week.
Week 1 you sign for example and Week 2 you see your adviser for a job search a talk over problems etc. I have not seen the week 2 perosn for 3 mths.0 -

donnajunkie wrote: »the weekly thing is not permanent. well it isnt around here. it is only for 6 weeks here. they also give the option of being phoned at home to do the jobsearch in the weeks that arent signing weeks. of course i am speaking as an over 25. there will no doubt be different rules for under 25's.
I am way over 25 and its law to attend each week after 26 weeks signing so that's what I have been doing unless they cancelled it0 -
