So I went to the job centre today and all I signed was a new Jobseekers Agreement. The hours I am willing to work must be 24 hours where as before it was 9am-6pm. I will take THREE steps a week to look for a job!! (is that all???)

The guy told me the people or should I say company in my 'area' who are doing the work programme but he couldn't tell me where they were. He said they would contact me within the next 2 weeks to arrange to see me and if I have to get a bus I have to take that up with them before I go to see who is going to pay for that.

He wrote some notes on my 20 years experience in accounts and told me the provider will get that info and make a programme to fit my needs but my needs are interviews and he said that they (the providers) can not get me interviews as they have no powers to do so.

So, now I await the phone call/letter from them to tell me when I have to go to start the work programme.

The guy at the job centre also asked me about how my life is after working for so long & now being out of work with so much experience. I told him 'I have no life'! :(

I had my first appointment for this the other day, 2 really lovely women from a local training company conducted the induction, and were very honest about everything. They also vitally appeared to care, and had backgrounds in training and mentoring work. Next appointment is in next to a months time.

you would get the travel paid?
any reasonable travel costs to see your adviser and to get to a work placement are usually covered. i think travel costs for a placement interview are covered as well. i dont know about the travel costs for an interview for an actual job.

it sounds like you were scammed by a nasty adviser like i was a while ago. i had restricted hours and the adviser just wiped the whole lot. however when i had an appointment recently the adviser let me change it back. my hours are more than what you had. mine are 8am to 6pm monday to friday and 8am to 12noon on a saturday.

the provider is likely to phone you within a week of being refered. they will ask a few questions and then send a letter out to you confirming the appointment that you will have agreed during the phone call.
the provider is likely to provide training sessions for things like interview techniques.

the 3 steps is the minimum, i do more than that, i tihnk i average about 3 or 4 steps over 2 days.

well they cant actually get the interviews but they can prepare you for them eg interview practice, help with applications etc

no he told me as i had no dependants I could not say that accounts people only work 9am - 6pm Monday to Friday so the hours are left open! Not sure where I will be working 24 hrs a day in accounts but he said I could no longer have restrictions on the hours

It doesn't say what the STEPS are but apply for about 60 jobs a week and have a mega long list of the things I do every day to look for work.

That's what I find funny with the whole thing. I need no help with application forms or interviews its more a financial support I need badly but they can't do that.

like i said he is being a bit naughty with you. you probably should have had an earlier start time than 9am though. if what he told you was true then i wouldnt have been able to put my restricted hours back into my jsa agreement. all you can do is wait until you next get an appointment with an adviser. they will go through your jsa agreement as is normal for them to do and that is when you should take the opportunity to ask if you can have restricted hours. if they ask why just say what i said, a previous adviser changed it without your agreement. in the meantime you will just have to tolerate it.

I am on the work programme now and he told me if can not be changed and I had to sign it as it told me I could not have restrictions on it

Why do you have restrictions on yours?
