The good news is that she is acting like our little Lily again. We did have a problem with our right eye in that it didn't open...but on Xmas day she started to open it properly again. We've been told that this is good news as it probably means that one particular nerve is just bruised and not dead.

I am sorry for the length of the tale, and for the lack of old style content. But most people that I talk to are here. Over the past 3 weeks we nearly lost our little baby twice. If we hadn't taken her to A&E Monday night we would have had a dead baby Tuesday morning. Whatever the future holds for us now we count ourselves very lucky to still have her.

Wow! Scary, to say the least.

    <hug>

I hope everything turns out well. Dunno what else to say... except...

  • Morning everyone

rchddap - what a terrible time you have had - thank goodness everything has turned out ok. (((Hugs))) to you and your family.

Had a lovely christmas - hectic but still lovely!!!!

Just trying to use up all the left overs in the fridge as it is now groaning!! Not sure where all the food comes from as i didn't buy too much this year so looks like next years christmas food budget will be reduced again!!!

Gonna have a bit of a tidy up today and find homes for some of the new toys and games. Then sit down with the kids and watch a film.

Hope everyone has a good day

    Liz xx

Rchddap1 - what a very scary thing to have happened to you. Thank goodness you knew what to look out for, and got her to hospital straight away.

Didn't know what to look out for really. It was obvious to us that our little lady wasn't herself. Took her to the GP initially who said that she was over eating....she was pale (practically white) , floppy, lethargic, grunting, refusing feed and was bringing up bright yellow sick. We knew something was wrong and so took the next step in going to A&E. These symptoms developed over a very short space of time.

I now a strong advocate of the...."if you don't believe the doctors stuff them and head to A&E" mentality. If we'd trusted the GP our baby would be dead.

There is not much anyone can say to us. Just keep your eyes on them babes and don't be afraid to do what we did. It could just save your little one's lives.

Yep, I'd much rather be though of as a nuerotic, over protective mother than stay away from the gp for worry of being told off.

GP would have killed Lily if we'd listened / trusted her!

Trust your own instincts and don't worry about heading to A&E. Fight until things start to make sense.

  • Good morning everyone.
It’s a cold, wet, stinky morning here in County Antrim

Rchddap1 - that must have been a scary experience for you. Glad to hear that your little lady is on the mend. I am not a parent so I cannot begin to imagine what it was like for you.

My partner was allowed to leave work yesterday at lunch-time because things were quiet and we are hoping that the same will happen today and she will travel home on the same bus as me. If so, we intend to relax this afternoon watching DVDs. My mother will be coming up to ours again today for the New Year.

After today we are off work until next Thurs :j

Hope everybody has a good day

rchddap1, my heart was in my mouth reading your story, such a very worrying time for you all, big, big hugs to you, dh and lily xx

always trust your instincts with children, kyle took ds1 to gp and was told he was okay, but she wasnt happy and took it further, he had undiagnosed diabetes and would have gone into a coma if he had been left any longer
  • rchddap1 - what a horrible experience....sending you and your family massive :grouphug: !

Glad she is on the mend and will keep you all in my thoughts.

Today, I'm off into town to sort out DH's prescription and have a little mooch about...back before lunch and then housework all the way.

    Catch up later
