Sounds like a nice idea....I haven't heard of that before in companies just in colleges/unis. What heappens to your job? I mean, do they employ someone just for the 6 months to cover?
You could go on a tour of the UK in a campervan....the entire country.:)
well, there's a few thousand staff, and about 400 in my department. they'd just cope with it. staff turnover is about 10% so it would just blend into that.
i wouldn't go travelling, there's so much TV to catch up on. i've only watched about 10% of the content of the military history channel, and i can't remember what happened in the wire.0 -
You can do them online now quite easily. It checked our MOT and insurance at the same time. I did have to wait a few days for it to arrive in the post (and had gone over the end month date by 5 days) so stuck a post it in the windscreen with 'disc in the post' a la 'Delboy'.
It's not that straight forward for everybody0 -
5:20... can't sleep, so gave up trying an hour ago. Old's moved and it wasn't a good day and I have to dash back over there at first light (50 mile round trip) with a walking aid as the old wasn't issued with one but we happen to have the right sort at the house.
Poor old's not normal ... and it's been so long now since they were I think "that's it". So now it's a period of big round trips to visit Planet Fairyland a few times a week until things have settled a bit.0 -

Poor you. I'm thinking of you even if nobody else is at this time of day.
I remember my Dad going into the Land Where the Bong Tree Grows. Not a nice experience for the rest of us although he seemed to quite enjoy it once he got there even if the journey wasn't a whole lot of fun.0 -

yeah, a grand for ILR, and then another grand for citizenship the year after, and no money back if you 'fail' i think? yoono offence to your wonderful British passport holders but I don't want a British passport, just ILR to stay here and I'm good. But of course, knowing the govt, I prob won't get to use the NHS or collect my pension if I don't collect my citizenship.
The govt makes a net profit from every immigrant obtaining ILR. I think the true net cost is approx £300 but they charge £1000 (can't remember this properly so could be wrong)0 -

chewy they aren't going to chase you straight away for something that's a few days out of date and not on the road. Where I live we are having to put orders on two cars that have been abandoned in our private spaces for months without tax on them and the police haven't exactly been fast coming to pull the cars out and crush them.
Just make sure you renew before your MOT runs out or you'll end up in a cycle where you can't get tax because you have no MOT and can't get to the MOT station. You don't need to have your tax disc in the window to go for MOT as the systems all tie together now. Yes, technically it should be displayed, but you can prove that it was bought and paid for. So don't be too disheartened, but don't delay getting it sorted either.
If anyone asks, just say you went to the Post Office three times before Christmas and couldn't even get in the door (that was my experience of the Post Office then though I wasn't trying to tax the car, just post cards) and then it got forgotten in the Christmas madness. Everyone should be allowed an occasional lapse moment, the ones they want to catch are those who look for loopholes and run uninsured, untaxed and unsafe vehicles. You'd be very unlucky to get caught otherwise, but the longer you leave it...Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Youngest goes off into what we call Planet Zog.....we once had a very bemused counsellor trying to do a family appointment with youngest in Planet Zog, she ended up most confused at the weird stuff he came out with but the rest of us found it hysterically funny...we're used to it. Much better for him to be in Planet Zog than to be in Planet Cut off when he gets stressed, it's easier to retrieve him from Zog.
I had a bath last night to see if that improved things and it worked for a time but have woken up this morning feeling a little off still, so it is still a wait and see station for the moment.
I also had my knowledge tested last night, James has a pyschology exam this morning and he wanted me to help him revise by throwing questions at him, I thought I did pretty well without even ever studying the blooming subject but then (as things do in this house), we started talking about real life situations (e.g. the effect on him going to a day nursery when I went back to work when he was very young) and then discussing if we agreed with what some of the information said..I didn't always agree but then that might have been a bit of self survival, I have enough guilt from his childhood because of the needs of the other two, let alone having more guilt for having put him in a day nursery.
That said, I think he turned out alright.....at least he stays away from Planet Zog!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

From what you've said about him on here, the rest of us think he turned out to be amazing.
Pastures, I know how weird and sad it is to lose a parent to dementia when they're physically still alive and needing visiting. I'm sorry you're going through this. Glad your old is now somewhere safe, though - really hope this place works out well for her.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0
