I was thinking of moving the car insurance to multi-cars. Disadvantage is that they all then renew at the same time - so a hefty bill. Also it means that if you ever want to break away from multi car insurance, they all still renew at the same time.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. It didn't stop a guy writing a whole book without the lettter e.
I hate paying motorway prices but when I say down here I mean around London with the routine ripoff pricing setup around here. When I go to other big cities everything's as cheap as chips.
Well not Brighton and Aberdeen apparently but most cities.:)There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Just survived the 430 mile trek home by motorway from Scotland. Endless congestion in the M6 between Liverpool and Manchester. Nothing to explain it, just heavy traffic.
Still, back in one piece after eight hours on the road. Did notice how much more expensive the petrol is down here. Stopped off at supermarkets for petrol - Sainsburys at Bamber Bridge (Preston) 128.9 for unleaded.
Carlisle Tesco's v cheap too.
One motorway service station didn't even have the price displayed at the pump- you found out the price when you went in to pay. :eek:We are not well-served.
I'm around 10 miles from the M6 Lockerbie and around 26 miles from Carlisle Asda which is the one I'd have suggested to try for fuel. It's the turn off before the one you took (Carlisle North) on the way down at Carlisle and where I often fill up when travelling South.
I think my local Shell is around 1.46 for Diesel but I may be wrong.
Edit. It's 1.42.9. Thanks for the link PN0 -

I think it's a shame it doesn't offer a route solution though - if you could key in a from and to and it'd show you cheapest petrol within 1 mile of the route. I was 18 miles away the other day and spotted diesel 3.2p/litre cheaper than round here.... not worth driving there for that, but it'd be nice to know when you're passing somewhere that's cheaper.0 -

This would be amazing, thank you! I don't think I have a numlock key though - I only have numbers across the top.
If I just try Alt 113 it doesn't work.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Some of the service station prices from the Midlands southwards are outrageous :eek:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
So if petrol is at £1.30 a litre it is about a shocking £6+ a gallon. Now that is a lot of dosh but then it brings me on to thinking about other stuff that has shot up in price. Food, utilities and so forth. Rather a shame they didn`t keep house price inflation out of the mix a few years ago. Now that would have been interesting. So if like me, with the general state of affairs, I think inflation is a lot higher than we are told. I know PN and myself were rather miffed when the IRs dropped. Yet come on. 0.5% and still a lot of things seem to be tanking. We can`t go a lot lower than that BOE.0

Problem is the sites offering advice on cheap petrol stations are all based on motorways ( e.g this and this and this) and your nearest one would be around Exeter. Is there a gap in the market there? :cool:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
