I was not out celebrating last night (not feeling too good) but I did look outside about 12:10 and it was quite spooky like an Alien invasion. It must have been fireworks at that time but they looked like groups of aircraft travelling towards my house (Orangish lights) and then way past, they kept coming for about 15 minutes. Anyone any idea what kind of fireworks they may have been, I have never seen anything like it before.

Happy New Year NP's. Loved reading about everyones night out/in...and walks along the river.;)

We did dither over going up to London to watch the fireworks...I love to go but OH hates the corwds + journey home (as the tubes get shut due to overcrowding and you have to walk for miles to London Bridge through rivers of wee as we did in 2009) and we had been invited out to dinner.
It was nice but I felt whacked so wasn't too bubbly.

Got home about 11.40 and the hill was packed with people who come up to watch the fireworks but we decided to watch them from indoors through the gap in the trees....it's just not the same though.:D OH knew I had wanted to go and felt a bit bad and we missed it last year too so we have agreed to go alternate years from now on if we are living here. Compromise is his midle name.

I saw those glow things and wondered what they were....guessed they were some kind of lantern. They fly really high...like a helium balloon.

Incidentally, parakeets do not like fireworks, they were flying about and squawking when they are usually asleep @ midnight.

That's a time of day thing. Coffee for breakfast, coffee mid morning. Tea mid afternoon. Hot chocolate before bed. If I drink hot drinks that is. Quite often at home I'll just drink blackcurrant squash. I can't however function without the first thing in the morning caffeine fix.

It's usually tea for me with a mug or two of coffee in the morning. As it happens (mmm, well we have got a recorded programme about Jimmy Saville on now!) I really fancied something savoury and I'm now sitting here with a cup a soup.

What a fascinating disclosure of taste in beverages. :rotfl:

Did anyone see the first in the new series of Sherlock tonight? Wow. Serious wow. I'm not going to say anything about the story in case someone has recorded but it was phenomenal.
It turned up on my telly.... which is on in the background all the time and most of the time I am unaware of what's on .... but it caught my ear and I looked up. I watched about 2 minutes of it and thought "!!!!!! is this !!!!????" and turned over.

You should always have a spare bottle of champers around. You never know when the weekend may pop up. :A

Are you in Edinburgh Zag? A1 or M6? I'm trying to think what NP you travelled past that you may have met someone they know?
