Been invited to go out with some friends I don't normally spend time with tomorrow. OH won't go but still it's high tea at a posh London hotel at £50 a head. and my train fare for the day of £13. My MSE money dilemma. Answers nice peeps?

High tea is right up my street. A bit of rose champagne and as many finger sandwiches as a human being can eat. £50 isn't too bad if that includes a glass of champagne. I've been to the ritz and the landmark relatively recently. The ritz was rubbish (because I hate dress codes, and it was full of american tourists) but the landmark was nice.

Three course dinner anywhere decent in London with a glass of wine would cost you £50 anyway, and you get more food at high tea (assuming you treat it as I do: an all you can eat buffet, with table service).

Poo as they say. Cracked phone screnn a few months ago, minor crack didn't really cause any problems. discovered that the broken bit was the 'digitizer' which only costs 9 quid and was allegedly easy to replace. Removed screws, phone harder to prize apart than on line write up suggested. Replaced screen, reassembled, looks beautiful but...back and menu buttons no longer work and an hour of fiddling hasn't helped. Going to sleep now hoping it will be better in the morning but who knows. Was hoping new screen would let me sell it on ebay and thus afford latest model but now it looks like I may be back to a nokia or whatever I have lying around cheapie :(

    How long left on contract?

I never buy phones on eBay just in case someone less than honourable has listed a phone like you describe, superficially fine but defective.

Don't do contracts in the traditional phone plus handset manner instead do free (via cash back) contracts and good value handsets normally every 2 or 3 years for a handset but depends what offers are available. This one is 14 months old and cost 70 quid and I was hoping to sell for a little bit more on ebay and then replace with a handset costing less than £100 (my previous phone cost £100 and I sold it 3 years later for 95). So my total annual mobile costs for phone, 500+ minutes unlimted texts and at least 500mb data is usuallly less than £50 depending how I do handset trading...If I can't fix this one I will sell it with the fault described and hopefully get about 30 quid.
    I think....

I don't believe in that "the one" stuff, for me it's more about finding someone who doesn't want to kill me after being left in the same room as me for 10 minutes.
Oh ... are you super annoying?
    How exciting.
The best annoying people are when they're annoying to other people and I can stand and observe :)

I take it that all NPs vote regularly? Or is that a dividing issue?
My attitude to voting is that no party ever does anything for me. It's like choosing somebody that'll kick you to death, or somebody that'll stab you to death. So I don't bother.

what radio stations do other NP listen to?
There aren't many that you can pick up down here, even the local radio disappears along some estuaries/valleys.

Mostly, therefore, I just plonk it on Radio Cornwall and if they're being super annoying I turn it off again.

Do you all live in areas that still have grammar schools? Where I grew up they were abolished in about 1973-74... it's weird when you guys mention grammar schools.
