I'd be thinking is that the best way to spend the 63 quid and for me there would almost certainly be a better option than an overpriced cup of tea and a scone - but then I don't think any of my friends would think that was a sensible investment either...Been invited to go out with some friends I don't normally spend time with tomorrow. OH won't go but still it's high tea at a posh London hotel at £50 a head. and my train fare for the day of £13. My MSE money dilemma. Answers nice peeps?I think....0

Sure, but that's hardly the question is it?
You've never paid more for something than you normally would to make an occasion special or whilst at a social gathering etc?

we have a friend coming tomorrow with their partner who we can't stand. tbh, wouldn't have invited them, but invited themselves (I suggested meeting with friend on a date I knew partner wasn't available, but partner wanted to come so they asked if they could come.....what does one say?)0

A once reknowned male therapist once told me that (in general) men fall in love once in a way they can';t repeat: this might be with their mother, a teacher, a first girlfriend, or in some rare cases their wives...forgiving terrible behaviour and comparing all future women subconciously to ''the One''.
Sounds like a load of b****cks to me.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Guess I will go. I do dislike expensive things just after Christmas though. At least I'm using the free £10 rail voucher Martin got for us.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Well, it certainly wasn't true of LNE. He fell in love with "the one" every few years, and "realised" that he "had never loved" any of the previous "ones".Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

grin and bear it. We have a mutual friend we both like but her partner is a very anti-social/shy person who doesn't do small talk. But hey, she must see something in him!0 -
I feel experiences are the best presents so one way to think of this is that you're giving your friends your company as a present. You'd spend that much on a group of friends (I guess):D
These lot certainly aren't getting anything else. They are friends from school and ones I only see every 6 months or so. I've avoided the others for years and intend on doing so for much longer.0
