Pastures new is right, but she is missing two important things:
1. A seperate dining room,
2. Hot and cold running servants.
'Cos, as far as I am concerned, the perfect kitchen is one you never have to go in unless you want to.
Unfortunately I've never had the perfect kitchen, but I can always dream

I can't remember the last time I needed a new kettle. The one I have now is at least 10 years old, and I think probably 15 years.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Yep but it's a very very easy fix. Take the lid off and bend the two(?) bits of metal that make it "click" into place inwards a bit. ie so they have less purchase.
They're quite stiff but it can be done with a screwdriver or the like.
If it is still the same design that is? I notice from the comments on Amazon it doesn't even have a filling gauge any more. tut.0 -

For me, the perfect kitchen would give me:
- space/sockets for the stuff that gets left out and plugs in (kettle, toaster, microwave, food processor type of stuff that people might have).
We've got lots of that - steamer and kettle for us
- space to put cold food beside the oven while the door is opened
that's a good one, we've got that to the right of our fridge and left of our oven
- space to put scorching hot food beside the oven just as it's taken out
Can't you just stick it on the hob?

- a looooooong stretch for those days that you're actually cooking, think of making 2 pizzas and having room to have them both in a tray beside the space you used to roll them out, beside the space where the ingredients are. So that bit probably has to be a 4' run minimum. That space should be completely and utter free/available at all times when it's not actually being used.
- space to serve up (which would be that 4' clear space) and space to dump all the dishes if there's been a big meal/buffet/party going on (again, that 4' space).
We've got that, too, over our pan drawers. Not sure if it's quite 4 feet long, though.
You are indeed. OH and I were sensible enough to take my Mama's advice about our new kitchen, because she's a very good cook with a lot more practice of planning kitchens. A strong pointy knife would also do, but of course that has "slippage" risk.
Alternatively, put it on his list for the weekend0
