You do realise it is liable to malfunction any day now you have said that
Yes I did wonder if I should post, for that reason. But then I told myself that I don't believe in that sort of thing, and in any case there's probably another one in the garage - along with a whole lot of other stuff from LNE's kitchen that I haven't got round to dealing with yet.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
doozergirl....if you are reading this my plain english kitchen bumf arrived today.
I really like it more and more. Thank you. I'm also going to cheekily show it to my builders and ask if they think they can do something comparative more cheaply, if not, well...
any one who has an island or galley kitchen, can I ask how wide your gap between the surfaces are....i.e. the bit you walk. we tried a gap of 1m20 (minimum gap recommended in the conran house book) and 150cm which felt ok.....
I want to send the my kitchen plans and get them to o a design but feels cheeky if the builders end up doing it or (more likely?) they do it but hve a long wait of a few years before they do...is it wrong? Its getting them to o work for a job I know they won't get ithin 24 months (unless euromillios comes up)0 -

It's a Russell Hobbs and looks a bit like this (brushed metal finish though, not shiny)

Of course, you could, alternatively, stick it between your knees and use a rough emery board 10-20 times instead.... that sounds easier/more achievable.0 -

We've had a cheap and cheerful Tesco value plain white kettle for 3.5 years now. It was bought as a stopgap when we first moved in together until we finished decorating. But since it's never broken, we've never got another one.
Used at least twice a day every day, so perhaps the advice is to buy as cheap as possible?0 -

Tut tut, and you a PhD-er?
The plural of anecdote is not data.........much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Mine is a similar Russell Hobbs one.

Same experience, the first one failed and was replaced - no problems since.3 f
Annoying factors are the lime scale filter - are these things so flimsy that they are just a tax on ownership? Given up replacing it. That lime scale probably includes valuable trace elements, the sort they boast about on the side of mineral water bottles - and the lid.
The lid will stand vertically , until the moment when you are pouring something into the kettle, then it will shut itself.
I think I still have two of the original "self turn off" RH kettles in the loft. Made a set of tool and I was a dab hand at replacing the element, which was a regular chore. Hence the need to have two kettles.
Replacing the immersion heater is a lot more difficult, as I have to do it after removing the ceiling to gain access from the loft.:rotfl:0 -

Physiogmany is quite fun though.
I'm a night owl but also an early riser.....in other words, a bit of an insomniac! A lie in for me would be to sleep for 6 hours.
I don't believe it either. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Hi all, just back from the Isle of Wight. This is what I found out, in no particular order:
Even after gale force weather, it is not necessary to take Kwells on the ferry
Amazingly enough, we had brilliant blue skies for both journeys
The isle of Wight is really delightful. I felt a bit like Dr Who, arriving 40 years in the past.
I heartily recommend the Hermitage Country House Hotel B&B at £30 each a night for the two of us http://www.hermitage-iow.co.uk (warning for PN - posh alert)
Out of season in the IOW, we were the only guests for 2 of our 3 nights
It would be a lovely venue for a quiet wedding, and they have 6 booked for 2012 (and 2 for the year after), which is kind of scary as it's up for sale right now http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-32030911.html Just how do you explain to the bride that she can't have her wedding as the house has been sold?:eek::eek:
The walking on the downs near the hotel is lovely, and I thoroughly recommend a visit before they sell it
The carol service and Xmas lunch at the sailing club were charming, although it was a bit worrying that we were almost the youngest ones thereNo reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
