I've only ever owned one bed. Bought it in about 1989 and binned it in 2007 when I downsized to the size of a suitcase.... and in 2007 it was still as new-looking and perfect as the day I bought it. And it'd been moved about loads of times and in storage 3-4x.

I wish I understood your banter better. :D

Clearly, I was not brung up proper.

Googling, I get a very interesting range of images....

Hi, we are just looking at getting a Tempur mattress. As we opted for a super king-size bed (a bit big, in retrospect, not cosy!), we are looking at paying £1750 for the mattress if we go that route. That's discounted, from Dreams. However, as I have a bit of a bad back, I may be able to get a letter from my doctor which will entitle me to get it free of VAT.

I've never heard of Kaymed. Are they better than Tempur? Cheaper?

We've just bought a tempur mattress for our new bed, and it seems very nice indeed. I'll let you know shortly whether it is!

I don't think my mattress has a make on it....it was a bog standard cheep one purchased about 10 years ago (probably more, we have only had two mattresses in 23 years and the first one was 2nd hand!)

I need a new one as I can feel the springs on this one but being the cheapskate I am, I refuse to pay silly money for one, some of the prices make me go "EEEeeeeeeekkkkkkkkk!" they are so silly (anything over £100 is silly money to me....plus unaffordable)

That said, I also need a new bed...the slats have gone on this one on the bottom half left hand side courtesy of the boys thinking it a good wheeze to wake mummy up by jumping on the end of the bed.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

What a lot to catch up on!

    In brief....

    1) Mum is still much the same as the last couple of days.

    2) LNE had proper bow ties in various reasonably tasteful colours, many with matching cummerbunds. I've kept them for DS to have when he grows up.

    3) I need to get a new mattress some time soon. The one I'm sleeping on at the moment was bought when LNE and I moved in 1999 and retired our previous mattress to the spare room. It's reasonably comfortable to sleep on, still, but there are sharp bits of spring sticking out of the sides that jab me in the thigh if I'm not careful. (It's been bounced on, like Sue's.)

    4) Pastures, if your Old can't take the right meds at the right time even with carers coming in, then she really needs to be in a care home. Good luck with persuading her of that - you'll need it. What are her meds for, and what goes wrong (or might go wrong) if she misses them?
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Tempur do a 60 day trial - you just pay the delivery charge if you want to return it.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Well, there's been a bit of a scare because one of the regular posters hasn't been seen for a few days, but that scare's over now.

Not a fun break sadly. And now I turn it on after its holiday the pc is crashing all the time  took twenty mins to post here.

    Doozer has a lovely leg.

Beds: I know I should like firm beds, but I don't...but guests should be grateful for ANY bed.

That's as far back as I got so far. Glacial pace of my machine. I think its dying.
