I need to find a thread with more coffin-dodgers like myself. I was starting to worry about your absence and remembered what a granny I sounded about singlesue's ticket handover.:(
Being a parent isn't something I can switch off, more's the pity
That's very dear of you, I'm sorry I caused concern0 -
I need a new one as I can feel the springs on this one but being the cheapskate I am, I refuse to pay silly money for one, some of the prices make me go "EEEeeeeeeekkkkkkkkk!" they are so silly (anything over £100 is silly money to me....plus unaffordable)
I think that for something you spend 1/3rd of your life in, more or less, it's worth saving up and shelling out a bit to be comfortable....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Matresses are a hot topic here. My side of the bed has a significant dip in itthat we call the bucket. The bucket appears only on my side however we flip and turn the matress. I quite like memory foam but dh hates it a lot. I'd love a new mattress. And a new duvet: all the feathers have moved in ours so we have some very full patches and some empty ones (also on my side however we turn it). I like the idea of a silk duvet, but they look so thin nd mean I don't think th made beds look very nice.

you can get pocket feather duvets. they are stitched in grids and the feathers only move around in the box they are in.
on the mattress topic, we have a spring + memory foam mattress that's been going strong for 2 years. we have a king which is decent enough size. the mattress + bed frame combo was £2k bought 3 years ago but will be used for at least another 5 years.
Oh, the bedframe also has sprung slats, it has a bit of bounce that keeps the mattress "in-shape"
I now appear to have the beginnings of a cold. wonderful.0 -
Vaguely related to something PN mentioned a while back. I'm probably the last person to realise that the "recycle your printer cartridges" schemes that supermarkets offer is more to do with encouraging sales of new ones and making less available to be refilled at the specialist stores.:(
Apparently a major sewing machine manufacturer gave a huge cashback part-exchange to kill off any second-hand market years ago, so I suppose there's nothing new about this. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

The problem is sometimes solved by something like this...

Not always though, and you can still get olds taking from the wrong day etc.
If you go in every day, another solution is to only leave the meds for the day out and hide/take away all the others.
Something like this might be more foolproof? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Medelert-Pill-Dispenser-solid-lid/dp/B003TSTTHU/ref=pd_sim_sbs_d_1No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Try the high vitamin C blackcurrant squash (50% juice) from Sainsburys or Tesco (the Asda one isn't as good as not as high juice). I dose up on that with about 5 glasses a day and my colds never take hold. Worst case its an old wives tale and you get something that tastes good hot as well, but works for me.
This one's my favourite:

Missk, you've been having a few colds haven't you? Is your general health ok? Should you have a general health check?0 -
Stan Collymore tells us (on Friday) that he hasn't been out for four days with depression and now Gary Speed (RIP) tragically takes his own life, here is an insight by a footballer whose ID is covered up about the pressures of being under the spotlight

Today dh took up the carpet and chip board on the back landing because a: the carpet is fetid and wretch inducing b:there is a leak in the flshing bove there and the builer is coming for a look see tomorrow and we thought we'd see how far the damage extended and c: we wanted to see what was under there.
The good news was that it is original floor boards. The bad news is that there was obviously very very bad woodworm here at some point and the beutiful floor boards look far too far gone to be saved.
edit: forgive bad typing please. Embarrassed but trying hard0
