We have two memory foam mattresses now and I'd never go back to a normal one. One of them was really expensive (Kaymed), the other is part of a far cheaper divan set (Airsprung). Both are equally comfortable, though you've only got to look at the Airsprung to see it won't last as long. It's in the spare room though so that doesn't matter too much.
I definitely agree re the size though. If we were starting over, I'd have bought bigger, but this one (including the frame) cost nearly £2k and I'll be laying in it till I'm about 80 to get my money's worth!
Hi, we are just looking at getting a Tempur mattress. As we opted for a super king-size bed (a bit big, in retrospect, not cosy!), we are looking at paying £1750 for the mattress if we go that route. That's discounted, from Dreams. However, as I have a bit of a bad back, I may be able to get a letter from my doctor which will entitle me to get it free of VAT.
I've never heard of Kaymed. Are they better than Tempur? Cheaper? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
My s-i-l has a Tempur. It's the "leading brand" but speak to mattress shops and they don't necessarily think they are the best brand. One of DH's rels runs an independent bed store and recommends the smaller, well made brands over the big names as you are paying for the product, not their marketing budgets. AIUI (not an expert), the Kaymed has a sprung bottom with a generous memory foam top all built in together, whereas the Tempur is all foam. We did try them all, but the Kaymed was more comfy in our opinion. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I've only seen a real bow tie (or any bow tie) once in real life. I had a bizarre boss in the 90s that would wear one. Right c0ck he was.0

I've been upstairs and in the name of research have stripped off the sheet, the undersheet and the "keep your mattress tidy" type topper to work out the mattress we have. It's this one:

Not surprisingly given its got that lot on top, its still good as new. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? grrr @ olds...... or, specifically, my old.
Old has to have meds daily. Three types, four meds times (one is twice/day). So, having gone through every version of getting it wrong that's possible, after just 2-3 months of effort we got them into the blister packs. The glorious, can't go wrong, blister packs. Then I saw them - they're rubbish/not what I expected (and confusing).
Anyway, over at the old's earlier, there were four separate blister packs (they are colour coded for times of day, but that's no good if you don't know this and/or don't know which colour is which). But, that aside, four packs, all started on the same day ..... it's now week 3 and you'd expect an even pattern of empty/full across the packs. Oh no.....
* Each pack has a different number of tablets in it. So, all have probably been missed at least once and, looking at the variation of quantities some have been missed a bunch of times.
* Tablets have been taken out of the packs in random order, and not in the correct order. They have four columns named "week 1, week 2, ..." and down the side it says the days of the week. If the old wants a tablet, they don't try to take the next/correct one, but any random one they can extract from the packet.
* Some tablets have been removed from the rear, some from the front - the old can't get into the packets easily due to osteoporosis.
* There are some random tablets kicking about in the general area, explanation given "well, I struggle to get them out, so sometimes I get a few out and put them down ready for next time"
And all this has happened [a] with the blister packs with the NHS paying carers to come in 2x a day to check/issue meds.
So, there's no way forward with this one is there.... the ONLY way to get the right meds into the old at the right times would be to lock them away in a safe and have 4 carers going in JUST to open the safe and hand out the tablet. And that's just not practical.0 -

Was it a red one with matching braces? Did he also have glasses like Christopher Biggins? Margaret was particularly impressive in her reaction to widowhood, old age and declining health. She adjusted without complaint or self-pity. She must indeed have been frightened by her heart condition, but remained cheerful, positive, outward-looking, and always good company. She was disciplined in her personal habits; her stiff 6 o’clock whisky and water was her only vice (so far as we know).
In the end, she died peacefully, ten days before Christmas, aged 88, having retained all her mental faculties until a few a days beforehand. In her stoic, brave acceptance of the unrelenting cruelties of time, she was a magnificent example to us all. We shall all miss her deeply, but as we mourn her, we celebrate a full and exemplary life, now come to its natural end, with gratitude and love.0 -

He was bl00dy annoying and liked to talk the talk, but couldn't walk the walk. One day he turned up to the office in plus fours.
I bet he's dead now.
I think he was a Mason.... the police certainly seemed to shift themselves beyond what's normal when we had a big incident with a psychopathic member of staff taking the firm down and causing mayhem.0 -
