Also, even old style are recommending kindles now. I think I should try and use one at some point. Why kindle not iPad though? does the Ipad do the same but more?

kindle is a well designed piece of kit that does what it's supposed to do well. I wouldn't read off an ipad (and having just got home after a 13 hour day, it would make me feel worse).

I'm guessing the price of the kindle is more old-style friendly?

I'm happy to say that I live in the rough area of East Finchley. That gives me a fair amount of camouflage, as there are roughly 50-100k people in that area. I wouldn't expect people to be too explicit on an open forum, but I really can't see any harm in giving a rough geographical location.

Rough as in near-ish or rough as in not the posh bit?

I'm happy to say I live in Hertfordshire, as that makes Silvercar, michaels, tre and me all one in a million;) (well, 1.107m to be wiki-precise).

I guessed carolt's area from something she posted, so in return gave enough clues for her (and probably some NP) to guess my area.

I've probably posted enough that anyone that really wanted to could work it out.

South Herts is enough in general, according to wiki my village population is under 5k.

Re Kindles... There's a big debate at the moment as to whether they will go the same way as in US. Currently you can't borrow a library e-book and read it on your Kindle as they are incompatible with Adobe ePub format. However earlier this year they did a deal in the US, allowing libraries to offer ebooks in Kindle format. We have yet to hear whether a) the same deal will be offered in the UK, or b) whether libraries will accept it, given it could impact on data protection.

I read a lot of non-fiction and ebook readers aren't there yet for what I want to read as they aren't good with diagrams, charts, pictures etc. Give it another five years though....

I got a PM from a lady one day asking if i lived in "her area" as she had seen a number plate which she thought was my username.
I didn't recognise her username but something must have clicked when she seen the numberplate and connected with my username.

That's freaky, I'm the only driver of my model car in my area in white so far and its a personalised plate, so find my car and you've found me.:) Though the plate indicates my real name, not S11 VER.

I'll keep an eye out for S4NTA then. :)

    Forum ettiquette.

You know how you remember usernames?

So someone has posted on the housing board that they've just exchanged on their house purchase and I know that he lives near me (from previous postings), I'm dying to ask where he is moving to but that sounds like a stalker doesn't it? I would imagine that he doesn't even recognise my username.
Yes, but you should still ask him :)
