can kindle owners tell me how quickly the page turns are? I was thinking a bigger one might have more words on a page, or is it in pretend book page format?

I'm probably not going to get one for years, but I think its extablished I like to think about things for a LONG time before doing them sometimes! lol.

Pretty quick, but they seem to have brought out lots of new Kindles since I got mine, so the best thing to do is have a look.

You CAN get the kindle pc app in the mean time, which lets you read the free books.

I have the Kindle 3, with 3G built in. Page turns - effectively instantaneous.

It's much lighter than an ipad, so it's much better for reading.

I bought this version because it has a free 3G phone connection, plus an internet browser built in. So, I thought I could pick up my emails whilst on holiday. The snag turned out to be that the place I went to only has a 2G phone connection, and that is very slow indeed. But it was free!

You know how you remember usernames?

So someone has posted on the housing board that they've just exchanged on their house purchase and I know that he lives near me (from previous postings), I'm dying to ask where he is moving to but that sounds like a stalker doesn't it? I would imagine that he doesn't even recognise my username.

are you prepared to say where you live to us? :D

If you want to ask I'd say ''hey, I remember your user name because you live/d near me and we discussed x. Are you staying in the area?''

Sue...I'm presuming your mobility being worse means that you might feel the cold more this winter....can you consider the idea Tomterm suggested to me of an electric blanket where you sit most during the day/evening?

I have used fleece blankets and heat pads for quite a while now to lower our fuel bill and to ease the joints plus also making sure I put extra layers on and fleece throws for the sofas for the children to cuddle into (except middle son who moans it is too hot and wants to put the blooming fan on!)

In very cold weather and when I had the desktop pc in my very draughty hallway, I was known to get a quilt to huddle in but now I can retreat to my snuggly bed with its 13.5 tog quilt on to surf.

I have also found my new pain medication has had a weird effect on me, I am no longer as cold as I used to be!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I noticed they have (working) Kindles on display in Tesco today. It may be worth a look.

I got a PM from a lady one day asking if i lived in "her area" as she had seen a number plate which she thought was my username.
I didn't recognise her username but something must have clicked when she seen the numberplate and connected with my username.

You don't get if you don't ask but i wouldn't ask unless i had a good answer for when he says.... What do you want to know for!? :D

I've never been to the US

I'll back up Road Hog here and recommend you visit the US if you ever get the chance. The scenery's spectacular. The cities often seem similar but there are a few distinctive ones that are must-sees. New Orleans and San Francisco are great introductions to America for Europeans as they're photogenic, charming and interesting. Also their food's more interesting than the fast food we may associate with America, and in the case of New Orleans there's a distinctive musical culture.

Nobody else seems to suggest this but I'd recommend a visit to Toronto which is very under-rated and fascinating in a half-familiar kind of a way- some streets have brick houses like Britain and others wooden like the US.:A

I used to be able to work all night and still function okay the next day when I was younger, but these days I find it better to sleep for 60-90 minutes. Even then, I still tend to wane at 5 - 6 PM.

I'm happy to say that I live in the rough area of East Finchley. That gives me a fair amount of camouflage, as there are roughly 50-100k people in that area. I wouldn't expect people to be too explicit on an open forum, but I really can't see any harm in giving a rough geographical location.
