Personally, it wouldn't suit me at all, and though I already wasn';t working by the time we were married, as was ill by then, I kept the maiden name alive by default .
.
The tradition is that it's fine for jobbing musicians, actors, or writers (or any one else where the name matters for business reasons) to simply keep their own name. People have been doing that for hundreds of years now.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

sure. that's why I didn't fuss about it at the beginning. Now, with increased complications of relationships and increased abilty to be traceble I think some are find the doubled barrell combines romance with practicality. As I said, not for me, but I have no objection and see why it works well for some.0 -

No, none of the above. Any sweet unmarried girl was regarded as a spinster 30 years ago.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Ok - just spoke to the mechanic, something to do with a track rod which should have been screwed up equally at both ends but instead one end was screwed right on and the other end therefore nut was only 2 turns on to the thread and thus could have come off at any time resulting in no steering.I think....0

Ours shows our names immediately before getting married. I imagine they all do that.
Yes.
My wife was extremly happy to change surname because hers was 14 letters long, utterly un-pronounciable by anyone over here and it was always a long-winded spelling exercise whenever she needed to provide her name.
Mine is also 'non-standard' but only 6 letters, so that helps
Anyway, back from Belgium. Trip was good, stocked up on beer, choccies and coffee for several months. It was good to see the family and mom, and considering her condition (Parkinsons) she's doing relatively well.
It was westie-dog's first bonfire night, so we were a bit apprehensive about how he would react, but he's not bothered at all. Just his ears popping up when there's a really loud one, but then back to ripping his bunny blanket apart, or whatever activity he's busy with.
Didn't read through all the NP posts from last week, but I hope everyone's doing well.0 -
