  • something I have noticed happens in marriage is that people want bigger beds. DH used to say he always wanted to sleep in a single bed with me, which I quickly scaled up to a 4ft6 bed. Then we spomehow inherited a five foot bed, and it made life more comfortable with cats and dogs on it, now we only share the bed with the cats and yet a six foot bed looks really good. I wonder if this trend goes on long enough if its why some plder couples end up in twin beds.

OH and I shared a single bed quite often when we were students, etc.

Now I want a nice big one (-:

I need this - my car's just a cheap model and water sticks in all the wrong bits of the windscreen!
It's actually a silver car and I'm realising I mght be the only person here who has that colour.:D

    I have a silver-blue coloured car - and it's decidedly un-posh. A 13 year old Fiat Brava.

I think our new bed is super king size - 6 ft wide, 6.5 long.

can you get electic blankets to fit a bed that size?

After years of not using them as I read somewhere they are associated with female cancers and also because I had a little incident with one in the past, I'm in love with mine. I think tomterm suggested it, and he was SO RIGHT.

Whoooosh! That totally and utterly lost me. Is it something to do with football, maybe? In which case, please don't bother to explain, as I won't understand. I can understand the fun in playing football, but watching it? I'd rather watch the washing machine.

I like playing (some) sports. Don't have much time for watching them, though.

    I don't know - I've never fancied electric blankets.

Stop it NDG. That is just too endearing :o

To me it could have been spelt< either way.

    Blimey, what's endearing about dyslexia?

Lydia, that sounds horrible for you. Hope you're feeling better today, snugged up with the kids at home.
Thanks NDG. Now I come to think about it, I wasn't really scared for myself, but for my kids (who weren't with me), because I don't want them to go through any more losses for a long long time.

In other news, DS has agreed to start keeping a diary of the bullying if I will buy him a notebook for the purpose, "but not a girl's notebook with flowers or anything, Mum - get a boy's notebook, like black with flames or something." :rotfl:

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

The M5 pile-up is suspected of being as a result of a fireworks display nearby.

Don't know if that is a result of drivers being distracted by the bangs or the sight of the display or smoke billowing across the road.

    51 injured and 7 fatalities.:(

Upstairs we can see the fireworks from a couple of villages, and only hear them from one. The cats...who love fireworks, can't decide which direction to look in. They are loving it.
My dog's not loving this. Can't be let near the kitchen or he'll go barmy when he hears the fireworks.
