I will phone a decorator in the morning.

From this day forth I will confine my MSE stuff to cheap chicken in tescos.

What else has been happening apart from you all dropping half dead?

I phoned viva's contact, on the phone for 22 minutes.... she will be phoning the Adult SS to see if she can find out where we are in that system, as well as trying to contact another group at the Hospital that help speshul people understand what's being said.... with all 3 of us out with the fairies we'd struggle to understand what the nurses/Doctors were saying/meant. Awaiting a call back after that.

Thank you viva.... I hope the woman didn't think I was too much of a loony :) I did try to be clear and concise.
Somebody based at the Hospital who specialises in communications with learning disabilities will be with us tomorrow - to ask the questions for us and make sure we understand the answers. That'll be good as we've no idea what we should be asking and would probably not understand their answers, or the implications of choices if given 2-3 choices.

    Thank you viva.
oh and re viva, I wish there was a sort of honours list for the internet. Viva would definitely get to be something like Dame Vivatifosi of MSE for services to forum users. She's helped me too, and deserves recognition for general niceness always.

Fantastic to read the above Viva is a mine of info ;)......thinking about you tomo PN.
Good luck with the car trip (and pre journey walk to car).

Once I get there it's fine. Tip the old out onto the pavement, while I run to get a chair .... it's this end I have a potential problem with - and won't know the situation until it's time to load up ... also, the journey etc will have taken its toll, so might have to leave the old in the car for half an hour to recover after we get home again.

Pastures, you need to ask the hospital to supply you with a wheelchair that you can take home and use there. My mum has one - I'm not sure who issued it to them, but it certainly belongs to the NHS and not to my parents.

Well obviously I have been decorating. Unsuccessfully.

    To everyone else...

!!!!!! is a stair ladder? I am hiring bu g ger all. The whole idea of me and a Farrow and Ball paint bucket was ECONOMY.

Why have I wooden beam bits in my hall and why did I imagine I could outdo an honest artisan?

    I blame the conservative government.

Oh fu ck I have half a hallway painted and the honest artisan is going to have a field day to finish this

    Heeeeeeeeeelp

Woohoo! Wageslave is back! I've missed you.

Good luck with the decorating. We did all our bedroom walls after the replastering was done in the spring, and the utility walls more recently. However, I don't do celings, and I'm not doing the bit above the stairs either. My neck problem hasn't given me any trouble for a couple of years now, and I want to keep it that way, so that means I have to avoid doing anything that involves tipping my head back to look above myself for any protracted time.

Why are you decorating? Have you moved or done any building work, or did you just decide your place looked as though it needed it?

ETA This thread is moving fast tonight!

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Very best of luck tomorrow PN - we're all thinking of you.

I haven't moved, I just got up one morning and thought Hello this is far more shabby than chic. I did the bathroom and the porch really easily and somehow ( yeah, yeah stupidity is the mother of emulsion) thought if I stand on my tippy toes, I can do that........

I am thinking of you too PN. I am not totally sure why other than it is something to do with wheelchairs and elderly relatives.

I assume you are really fond of them

Were they wonderful to you when you were a embryo/toddler/teenager?

I think the one variously described as "well old" or "frail old" (as opposed to "ill old") provided everything Pastures needed throught the time she was an embryo.

She is currently living in their house. The ill one has only got seriously ill comparatively recently.

. The ill , I hate to sound ne has only got seriously ill comparatively recently.

PN, I hate to sound like a monster but do you want to be doing this?

I always cringe when I hear the words daughter/carer. I imagine someone with a bad hair cut in flat shoes and a drindle skirt.

It is easy for people on an internet forum to egg you on during the adverts. I am not saying that is what is happening. I am sure it isn't. But I am equally sure there is a lot of pressure on you to do the "decent" thing and fu ck your life.

    Take a deep breath

What do you want for you?

You have the right to ask,and answer, that question

I love the way you care enough to put thoughts like that into words, wageslave.

However, I don't think that doing the decent thing in this instance is going to eat up very much of PN's life. She moved in with them because she needed accommodation, and has only really acquired a significant caring role a couple of weeks ago when the ill one was diagnosed and deteriorated. He is not expected to live very long - she hopes to find out tomorrow whether it will be weeks or maybe months.

We are already egging her on to investigate some kind of supported or sheltered accommodation for the frail one precisely so that after the ill one is gone, she won't get stuck in a caring role for the other one. We are also egging her on to get her siblings involved, and indeed they are coming soon to share some of the load.

Well ... bad hair: check (haven't been able to have it cut as planned). Flat shoes: check (but that's normal for this region). Drindle skirt... no skirt. Phew.

It's a short-term/emergency thing.... I'm trying to get proper people in, I don't do 4rses...!! Or anything that involves touching. Got asked to rub some back cream on 2 days ago, I pointed and said to the other one ... you do it, you're married. I'm off. Cya.
