In answer to LIRs problem with slides, you would need a cushion ready at the top of the slide, just have to remember to bring it up again when you go to bed. Like on fairground helter skelters.
hurumph. I have the feeling silvercar has slept in more interesting beds than I have, she is prepared!0 -
Aluminium possibly. If you paint the underside of the sink with any old gloss paint you have lying around, it may reduce the water flow a fair bit. This is only a temporary bodge, right?
what a super idea, thank you! I will have a go at that ....I'm sre we have a half tin of gloss we aren't going to use for anything else.0 -
The sink went in in our utility room today - 99p form ebayI think....0

Agreed - the master bath here is stonecast but the other 2 baths are the extra thick guage steel Kaldewei with the non-slip surface - they cost about 250 rather than 100 for the cheap ones but are better in every way imo - for example they don't flex so the seal doesn't fail.
Michaels I'm after one of the Kaldewei baths for my bathroom. Did you buy it locally or off the net? I have an acrylic bath at the moment, I hate it.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Thinking of NDG's bed, one of the property shows this week, where people are taken round a bunch of them to see if they like them enough to buy them .... one had a bed on a mezzanine floor (big shelf) and to get up to it they'd not got steps but increasingly high cupboards - so the 'steps' were like 15" wide but each was a storage cupboard.0

This thread is buzzing! :T
It took ages to catch up.
The house.... would cost between 70-90k around here and i agree with NDG that it looks very undesirable.
Silvercar, your mate must have been looking at it for a BTL. Why is he costing so much for doors and stuff for a BTL?
The kitchen... I'd have had the hob and the sink the other way around.
NDG, does your bed come with a safety net?0 -
The kitchen... I'd have had the hob and the sink the other way around.
?
I'd never have considered this till doozer posted the most amazing bling cooker hood. I don't know what other alternatives there are.
Don't think it would fit in with my farmhouse though:(:( also....it feels odd to me when the cooker and the hob are separate. I don't know why.
I need to find the pics for the kitchen and get them on line for you lot elsewhere, you all have such good ideas.
Only thing that's changed since the last time is that the larder has gone. Long story....dh and I had a coin toss and he one, so he gets a stonking great fire (we'd planned one somewhere else and a bit smaller) where my larder was going to be. I seriously think he thinks I'm going to spit roast him pigs or chickens or whatever over an open fire on a regular basis. No way. I don't mind the occasional piece of toast on the fork, but my guess is he'll use the fire once a year for a meal and kid himself its great value and fun.:D0 -

Without knowing your children well enough, I feel it wouldn't be appropriate for me to comment on his experience today. However, I would say the diary idea is superb. Doesn't need to be war and peace. If I may be so bold as to suggest, it is very much worth your son noting down the facts of the events of each day. I'd strongly encourage that he adds a sentence or 2 at the end to say how he felt about the situation (how he feels about it is central to this). It may also be worth you yourself noting a comment after he's written his section highlighting the parents perspective (eg if he is withdrawn, or declines to eat for example).
You're a very intelligent lady. I know you'll make the right choices for him.:)
Thank you. That's exactly what I'll get him to do. Thanks for the compliment, too.I'm still puzzling over NDGs bed. If there is 5 foot of storage underneath, you must have very high ceilings. Do you need a bed guard?
It's a flat in a converted warehouse or industrial building or similar. The ceilings are much higher than in a normal house.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
