I love Indian food. I don't get over to East London often as its not on my stomping ground, but I do like the street of Indian restaurants near Euston station. Having said I love Indian food I love pretty much any food, providing you can get something vegetarian. Malay/Indonesian are my favourites.
One of the best things about the India Club was the short menu- only authentic-looking items. Plus there was a set menu that wasn't on the menu-you had to know about it. It wass about £15 for a mix of starters and mains and sides -you had to BYOB. It also did pakora which I rarely see outside Glasgow.
Handy for Covent Garden as well.

Pretty sure I've had pakora in Brick lane come to think of it.
Its not my kind of place either though, though there is some lovely architecture about there, it used to be behind a lot of dirt and mess, don't know if that is still the case.
I want to go to the amazing place you are all raving about though. Viva, do you mean Drummond St? DH loves it there...he has a thing about Indian sweets..
edit: had one of the most amzing meals ever in Southall, it wasn;t salubrious but it was very tasty. I can't remember what I ate but it was the first time I saw Dosa I think. We used to have lots of ''colonial'' curries at home, handed down maternal family line I guess. Lots of good ways to have veg. But I wish I did more and better curries.
One of our local restaurants carries a malaysian menu I noticed....maybe we should investigate that? I'm always a little wary because I have a bad reaction to Thai food and wonder if its some spice combination...I haven't identified it yet!0 -
Glasgow is my favourite city to visit in the UK. It always seems to have a fantastic atmosphere.
I know what you mean- it's always buzzing.
I overheard an argument about whether Glasgow was bothered abiout Edinburgh being the capital of Scotland, and I had to laugh. The counter-argument was that Glasgow already was the business capital, the industrial capital, the media capital (TV and newpapers), the cultural capital (opera and ballet), the retail capital (most shopping space outside London). I'd forgotten how much was going on there!
Edinburgh's a bit of a charm too- I started a thread contrasting Edinburgh to London and it was an eye-opener. Nobody's got a bad word to say about it.
Have you any Central Belt connections yourself ?There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Another frustrating day at Olds Towers.... thought I'd get a moment to myself ... but no. First the door goes, then the phone, both to do with the old, then I had to do some stuff to sort the old out and then answer some emails about the old, then I thought I'd do some food ordering online ... first time ever, had to think what the old would need.... took me 2.5 hours to spend £30... then the phone rang and I was on there for 1.5 hours ... and the phone's ringing again, so I can't type any more... brb.0

No, I'm around 80 miles (South) from both Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Edinburgh is more Historic and also a great place to visit. It's a much nicer flight into Edinburgh too.
Both are a good option for any NP who like day trips or weekend breaks :beer:0 -
... right, smoke alarms/fireman check... what a daft system that is. Had a card, with two numbers on it. Rang the first one this morning and they said something else, so I said what I wanted and they said "No, we're changing the system, so you have to ring this other number", rang that and it was number unavailable, so I phoned the second number on the card, that was number unavailable, so I rang the first number again and told her and she said she'd get back to me. Bit later she rang back to say the phone line was down and somebody'd get back. Well that was the call, they took the address and she said it's logged on the system and now we have to wait for somebody to phone us back, to make an appointment to come out and have a look. What a palaver.0

.. oh and I can't hang about, got to get dressed, brush my teeth, have a shower/wash my hair as I have to be out by 5pm... and not even any time for breakfast. It's been another day when I didn't have time to even think about food0

So the Stone Roses confirm their return.
I won't be going.
Not too sure on them "live" but the above is simply brilliant.
