Nice people....I have been coffee free for a couple of weeks or so now...you know how most people are 70% water, I am 70% arabica. Giving it up was fine, I don't feel caffiene shakes or anything, but I wouldn;t say I feel any better or different, and I'm craving it quite badly....I was alcohol free to, until last night when I had a bit of wine...seriously, I know medicinal drinking is a bad idea but it was a better cure to the thing I was at than anything else I could think of ...(most were disproportionately violent)...the coffee is c=alling to me....is this really good for the health, this coffee free existance?
Smoking I gve up eaisly, most foods when I give them up I lose the taste/want within a fortnight...but coffee ..not so..
anyone else given it up and rehad it? Is it as good as I remember, will it give me a headache and is it worth giving up to tste that smokey, roasted goodness?0 -

So, not "free" to make my own choices at all.
Also, can't house-share (to avoid an AST) as everybody wants "young professionals" to share with - and I find others annoying - and I tend to wander about in the middle of the night/out in the garden at 3am etc.... so I'm difficult to live with. And I'm not a trendy/young people's idea of the ideal housemate (being older than their mum).
Have to see what's around, how far away it is and pick something quickly that's the best that's available right now.
This is out of season, though, so maybe you can get a special rate for B&B locally on a weekly basis? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I've had a deliberate cut down policy and I'm now down to one small cup of coffee a day, (plus unlimited tea as that doesn't seem to have an effect on me). Getting to one a day is difficult as it is easier to slip in another one and before I know it, I need more each day.
Reducing that one to zero I'm finding really difficult. Without that one a day I get headaches bordering on migraine. So I've decided that one a day is not excessive and manageable. The other rule is that I don't drink it before 11am, to avoid having a second cup later.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Just a thought, you could fool your taste buds by having a cup of decaf coffee. To me that is like trying to get drunk on low alcohol lager, but if its just the taste it could work for you. No caffeine, so it won't give you a headache.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. that's a good idea and I might buy some tomorrow, thanks.
I used to feel the cffiene was sort of the point, but find I'm coping with out that fine, but I do miss the taste!0 -
I just asked my son if he remembers me reading fairy stories to him years ago. He says dad did the best stories because he used to animate with voices. Dad used to read about once a week and he remembers that, rather than me reading every day!
My Dad refused to read standard bedtime stories. Instead, he recited poetry. We all loved it, and Isaac does now, too....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Why the anti-caffeine? It's not necessarily bad for you....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I've been reading Isaac the Just So stories, and he adores them.

is it necessarily good though?:D
I got more into coffee for metabolic impact (I needed the boost!) but not necessarily the case now and not sure its been working for that either. I do love coffee....but i don't like feeling dependant on anything. Simialrly I give up alcohol for three months each year...though drink within limits tht my glass of red wine probbly does me more good than harm.
I cn certainly think of more harmful things than a cup of coffee, but I just don't want to ''need'' a cup of coffee in the morning to feel human....or like me anyway.:D0
