Hi Lydia's Daughter and welcome to the nice people thread. Did you watch the x-factor this evening? My daughter who is in year 3 watched Matilda on DVD and then was very sleepy and is asleep now even though she was trying to stay awake working on her confirmation stuff.
For nice people I just read this post and thought it was pretty funny.

Happy Birthday!
My darling infant was a bit under the weather today. Not seriously, he had a bit of a stomach bug. He described it as, "My tummy is confused", which is a rather interesting way to put it!
He did then get a bit upset when we were reading about baby turtles, and realised that baby turtles' Mummy and Daddy sod off, rather than looking after them....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Ndg, michaels, lydiaj, if you've got kids that like to be told stories when there's none to read, can I pass on a tip -
these websites are collections of long and short stories/folktales /myths/ etc.
!

http://dimdima.com/khazana/storytime.aspve
I found others that covered Aesop's fables etc. It was a vain (in both senses) attempt to seem like Superdad.
I used to memorise these stories when I had to keep my kids entertained while chauffeuring them about . My kids are now teenagers so I don't need these sites, but I hope they're of some use to you.
You've probably guessed I have precious few other talents that would impress kids, but at least they thought I knew every story in the world!:rotfl:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
In my car, it was maths questions not stories to keep them entertained!
Just back from eldest's 18th birthday party, the owner of the venue did an absolutely amazing job on the cake, it was certainly a talking point. I, however, have completely overdone things and now can't move without extreme pain.....but we had a lot of fun so it is worth it.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

We have to hold out till mid-November, because that's when it's safe to let the nice man light the Aga. Do it too soon and oil's wasted, do it too late, and he might be ages getting here, so we book him. Once cleaned and lit, it's on for the winter.
We've been lighting the woodburner in the evenings, as required, since the middle of last month. That's our other form of heating, and although it's connected to hopelessly optimistic series of radiators, a couple get warm, so it almost works. Logs are free or very cheap for us, and storage isn't a problem either, so we're looking at a wood powered boiler or kitchen stove for the future.
Because it's inflexible, we're often in the daft position of having the back door wide open on warmish winter days to dissipate the heat the Aga's generating! Obviously, that's not something that can continue, but with a large conservatory facing due south, the simulated Mediterranean winter climate is rather pleasant! :rotfl:0 -
DD can't sleep and wants to type smilies to take her mind off worrying about the hamster.

Aw. I'm sorry I missed her here, give her my love and it was nice to have the page so much more cheerful.
She's an excellent pet owner to be so concerned, but also to notice something wrong and the hamster is absolutely where it needs to be, which is also brave of her. Doing the right thing is sometimes very difficult.

Thank you. She has been very anxious this morning, but we have just phoned the petshop who say that she is looking fine this morning, and no more of the weird stuff has appeared so far. DD has perked up and gone downstairs to play, leaving me to a morning in bed attempting to shake off the cough/cold that DS has given me before I have to go to work tomorrow. I'll pass on your message next time she comes upstairs.Hi Lydia's Daughter and welcome to the nice people thread. Did you watch the x-factor this evening? Thanks michaels. That makes two Nice daughters in year 3. Mine watched Dani's house on iplayer last night and claims to have been awake all night worrying about Snowy, although actually she slept quite well. When's the confirmation?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
kitchen wall heaved a bit more over night I think.....the bottom kitchen cupboard where food is the shelf fell off and its all in a muddle,
so have started emptying the cupboards quite quickly!
edit: oh, and its warner today, 15 degrees in the kitchen...despite the breeze0
