I know of two couples who met through "young & widowed" support groups. One guy said it was easier meeting people who you had so much in common with through similar life experiences, rather that life had been unfortunate (by being widowed young) rather than the dating groups where people had either chosen divorce or had made other choices that meant they had hit middle age without marrying.

I'm not sure if I would count as "young and widowed". I mean, technically, yes, I'm widowed because he's dead and we were still legally married when he died. But my experience is of marriage break-up (although that wasn't my choice) rather than of losing a spouse who loves you and lives with you. On the other hand, I'm clearly not a divorcee, and I'm dealing with supporting bereaved children rather than negotiating shared parenting with an ex.

Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose. All my life I have been different and not fitted in the boxes. I'm used to that now, and comfortable with it. Most of the pieces of my life are in common with at least a few others, but my particular combination is unique. :)
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Plus - can you really live through the hassle again?

That's what puts me off doing more home improvements, especially when it's not really required.

So would your ideal man be:

    a. widowed
    b. never married/ co-habited
    c. divorced

    and would you like him

    a. no kids
    b. young kids
    c. grown up kids

Not that I'm setting up a dating site, just curious.

Surely the right person is more important than doing a tick list

Now you can edit my post and I can't - now that really is unfair :)
Vandal ... dunno why that'd be. It loads for me :)
And I can see somebody else has posted since you posted this question ... so I figure it's just one of those things for now. Probably OK now.
    I think....
  • In my book that IS team work :)

Taking responsibility, as part of a team, to meet the deadlines. Ensures the rest of the team get their bit on time so are given a stress free life as they know they can rely on you to do the work to a high standard and on time :)

Ah, but as counsel, I'm in charge of the team, without being responsible for them, exactly. Great combination (-:

I hate dealing with people who are too thick
Me too. I can forgive anything except people being thick ... the worst are those that are thick and don't know it, but assume they're right and you're wrong.
