Governor Perry of Texas is in desperate trouble over the name of a ranch he spends his summers on. I am pretty sure the forum will not allow me to enter it.

Apparently, it's recently been renamed "North Camp Pasture"
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

That edit was aimed at me, wasn't it? How kind and thoughtful you are, lir. But indeed I am not doing nothing. I'm not posting about that on here, though.

Those of you who belong to the "other site" can find more details on my house hunting thread if you're interested.

I'm wondering what Lydia is doing that she thinks we can't cope with here and deserves a

Edit was actually just focusing on the other LJ who might need a gentle shove but I guess you and sue who don't need a shove might also have been in the back of my mind. :)

The  refers in general to the idea of posting any details about that sort of thing on a public site where my anonymity has been hopelessly compromised. If I thought the NP wouldn't cope with stuff, I wouldn't post it on the other site, would I?

I realised that the shove was aimed at lemonjelly - I thought the "and you don't even need to worry about childcare" was added afterwards so as to prevent the shove making Sue and me feel got at. I thought it was considerate of you.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I guess so...I'd like to nod and say absolutely I was being consciously considerate, but though it may have been at back of my mind I don't think I can claim any kindness from it: maybe the opposite...focusing the shove for maximum hit on Lemonjelly rather than diffusing the blow by scooping others into it. :D

It took me ages to find my link to t'other place and was feeling exceptionally nosy!

    I'm really chuffed.

I know of two couples who met through "young & widowed" support groups. One guy said it was easier meeting people who you had so much in common with through similar life experiences, rather that life had been unfortunate (by being widowed young) rather than the dating groups where people had either chosen divorce or had made other choices that meant they had hit middle age without marrying.

Choosing not to hook up with losers/users was the choice I made that got me into that position.

The Irlens assessor finally got around to assessing youngest today (has only taken over 6 months since it was first muted as a possible by the school) and it appears youngest does have Irlens.

He has been given some coloured overlays but boy, complex autism and a change in the way they have to work is not quite going down so well...youngest is completely resistant to the idea and was even trying to trick the person doing the assessment that he was ok, she got wise to it though and tried a slightly different method and caught him out!

I think we could have a few rough days ahead until youngest gets into the new routine....but it will do him good - less headaches, less tiredness, less confusing for him when reading and hopefully, learning just that little bit easier for him.

It has been a long time coming though, his junior school thought he had some kind of problem, possibly dyslexia but he passed the dyslexia test ok but it was only when he kept complaining about the words jumping and swirling about, his headaches and eyes hurting and being so tired that the school thought he should be tested.

Poor begger really didn't want anything else wrong with him, he already thinks like is unfair giving him the lion share of problems and now he has another one to add to the list!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I'm at the point in the day where I'm making a list for tomorrow. I'd decided to do this from the sofa with me feet up but somehting made me glance down where I saw a FLEA. I haven't seena flea anywhere near my home or animals since the 80s! I was agog at the flea when noticed someone else strolling across my sitting room floor from the woodburner towards the door leading to the hall.....a very small hedgehog. It looked at me for a long moment before curling up. Its half the size of the others I've seen so weighed him and he's only 200 grams! Not a hope in hell I'd have thought.

so....it looks like we have a resident for winter. I only hope my house is warm enough for it to eat not hibernate. I'll call a hedgehog rescue place tomorrow and get some advice! (including what flea treatment can it have!)
