28: Bought caravan as I could never afford a house where I lived
30ish: Got chance for a SO studio on a council estate in a village, got 50:50
36: Sold SO, in negative equity still by 5% which was paid off by cheque
    40ish: Bought first house
46: Sold first house as couldn't afford maintenance/to run it as market had turned in my type of work and there was nothing.

Bumbling about now, kind of homeless, kind of lost in a big sea of indecision over when/where to buy next.... might buy in 2013-2015 or so. Might not.

It works for you because you can do the technical bit of the computer. For me that just induces a deaf blind panic.

Er, if you can't do the computer stuff, you just hire someone to do it for you. Simples. (It costs between £50-100 per book. Covers cost more than the techie bit, which is not much harder than putting something into manuscript format.).
I have software that instantly changes an image into various styles of ebook covers.... if anybody needs it doing.

I'm 29 and rent - live in London (just) and am trying to build up a deposit. Not sure where I'll end up working (need to work out what I'm doing job/ career wise) so I guess renting is a sensible thing at the moment anyway. Have been in rented accomodation for over 10 years now and definitely want to buy when the time is right (or less wrong!)

I'm the same age as Lydia, was mortgage free after I moved a year ago but not any more having done the extension - now wondering if marble floor tiles in the en-suite could be described as extravagant?

Wouldn't they be very slippery when wet?

OH and I bought our first place (3 bed flat) this year. Aged 33 each.

Bought late, as DW (fiancee then) working abroad
House 1 -Bought at 33, 2-bed semi.
House -2 At 38, 3-bed terrace. For 4 years it earned more than I did (good school area) :p
House- 3 At 46, 4-bed semi. Mortgaged to the hilt. It’s SW London/Surrey borders so that’s our lot. We're leaving in, rather than with, boxes we reckon. :o

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Aged 33 each.

That helps. I'm just younger than NDG, so I wasn't 32 when we bought last year. I guess I was around 31 then. :)

That's very generous of you... what is the name of the software ( you can PM me if you like)?

To be honest, though, the part I find difficult is the 'getting the image' part. Once you have the image, it isn't that hard to do, but making a image that sells is actually quite difficult...

I've actually been in one

(Edit) Or was it a pink flamingo now that i think about it. It wasn't very aero-dynamic, whatever it was. :D

I had you down as younger than that.
