I was hopeless at netball...badminton or cross country running however, I was pretty good.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I am pleased to say I have never done cross-country running.... the thought of it would fill me with dread.

Hockey's easy to get out of though.... I quickly realised there's a rule that if your stick goes above your shoulder you're "out".... so, onto the hockey field, run along, lift stick into the air .... WHISTLE ... you're off. Lovely rule.

Cross-country was the only thing I was any good at. I used to watch the 'big boys' racing away at the start, but a few miles later they'd be all steamed up and burned out. I could then make rude comments and get away, knowing they'd no hope of pursuit. :rotfl:

Then, suddenly, I was a teenager proper, learned to use the OS map and found a way of beating the system. There was an empty house where we'd hole up for a while, smoke few fags and then quietly slip into the lane near the school. A quick sprint to look suitably hot = job done! :)

By the time of my last inter-house race - I'd guess I was 16 - I'd become unfit, or probably more like unwilling. I remember a couple of us realised we weren't going to break any records, so we went into a call box and 'phoned the school to find out how far back we were, but the secretary wouldn't say. I think I finished about 46th. :o

With little knowledge of what the phrase really meant, I would argue with my sports teacher that I was a "Consciencious Objector" to cross country. I hated anything that got my shoes and clothes dirty. I am such a townie.

You wouldn't have liked being a pupil in my grammar school. Any sensible lad made sure he was suitably covered with mud by the end of rugby matches, because anyone seen to be 'too clean' was generally felt not to have participated fully and was usually dragged through the groundsperson's grass heap, which in winter was a foul- smelling, glutinous ooze. Somehow, the teachers never saw this. ;)

One exception was made for a very large lad called Nott, who was probably about 17 stone and not(t) a lot taller than he was wide. He made it clear, early on, he wasn't 'up' for anything that meant leaving terra firma, and even the teachers seemed to tacitly accept his aerodynamic limitations. ...... We let him off! :D

Woohoo... private sewer transfer day... our thousand meters or so (no one really knows where it goes) of dodgy pitch fiber pipe that keeps collapsing has just become SOMEONE ELSE'S PROBLEM.

Dear Sewage company... there goes your profits... :money:

Oh, yeah, nice weather day again today.

    Victory!!
Finally got the dog to take his pills!!. Couldn't find any spare meat to mix the medicine but remembered DW frequently describing dog's penchant for toast so I buttered a slice, ground up his pills with a gentle application of a hammer and soaked up the powder :j:T

Result a successfully medicated dog. Only problem is he now needs to be taken for a walk to do his business after eating.

One thing I remember about sports at school was dreading the bomb scares. It used to worry me witless what we'd do if we were in the showers when the bell rang and we'd have to traipse outside due to another bomb scare. It never happened though :)

You can now get milk that is filtered and fresh, guaranteed to last 7 days from opening. Cravendale do it and Tesco under their "Pure" brand.

Disaster with food last night, soup and first course off :(

I had hoped that having food in the fridge that was off from midnight to 9am (before I transferred stuff to spare fridge) wouldn't have done much harm. After all the food was cool, the fridge shut, so how much could the temperature have risen? Soup tasted bitter and starter meat that was 2 days old, I wasn't sure about. So dumped soup course (weather too hot anyway) and created a starter from bits and bobs around.
