top tip....
do NOT be fooled into think a mid mornign curry will make you feel better even if you have a cold. emails client to say I wasn't up for today and she brought be an oven meal curry. Yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck. I now have a cold, a head ache, and feel rather ill.0 -
Curry is not a great cure for a cold. What does work is pretty much nothing. Poor you. Go back to bed, get some beechams day and night pills, make a nice hot water bottle, maybe some chicken soup.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Our 'old banger' has just passed 55k miles in our ownership with one minor, non-consumable repair.
However, I think it's going to cost some serious money to reach MoT standard later this week.....so may have to 'ditch & switch.'
The two tricks with old bangers are:
1.Know what's inherently reliable, and what isn't.
2. Know when to get rid.
As I have full history, I know our car had nothing done in its first 55k miles. This means everything, except consumables, is 110k miles old!
I think I just failed on 2 above.
My old banger has to have it's MOT this month too.....getting quite worried about it to be honest.
That said, for £461 and 4 years motorting with not too much outlay, I would say I have got my monies worth. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Now, given how much you have to do, is it possible for you to hire a home help, just for the next few weeks? To take off some of the weight of looking after old? Does social services have a list of people?
Its the end of the school holidays, so there must be many, many cleaners who have finished their seasonal work and would be glad of some work. Phone a couple of the holiday letting agents and ask them.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. you didn't thump your car into another while owning it. I think I may have increased ever so slightly the wear and tear bit of my car.
You going to spend money on your car this week?
Someone thumped into us and wrote it off. We bought it back & a garage friend mended it (mainly cosmetic.) We pocketed about £500 difference and had a new car on loan for 6 weeks/3500miles.
Then it ran away just after a brake service.:o More cosmetic, but think Boots, not Estee Lauder!
Finally, it was involved with a slight argument with a wall in last year's snow.
So, not worth spending much on, but if I can get the magic bit of paper cheaply, it will probably go reasonably well for another year.:)
If not, yes, I'll be spending.0 -
I can't get a home help in, place is too grotty for that really
Need to get it up to speed first.... more decluttering/tip runs.
PoA said the old's competent to sign... even though the old couldn't remember my birthday when asked
Got a shortlist of homes and phoned them for prices. But then had a letter re probate and it'll be next March at the earliest before everything's settled, so that puts putting the house on the market off until Xmas/New Year really (a popular time in these parts as people look then, in order to move and be settled by Easter). I had no idea it'd take so long! I'd have guesstimated 4-6 weeks.0 -

PN, when can you see the gp? Are you feeling any brighter in the light of day, or you you still think you might have depression rather than being depressed? You MUST make time to tackle this, for your future well being.0 -

That reminded me of this joke lir:
A young man moved out from home and into a new apartment, all of his
own, he went proudly down to the lobby to put his name on his mailbox.
While there, a stunning young lady came out of the apartment next to
the mailboxes, wearing only a robe.
The boy smiled at the young woman and she started up a conversation with Him.
As they talked, her robe slipped open, and it was obvious that she had
nothing else on. The poor kid broke into a sweat trying to maintain
eye contact.
After a few minutes, she placed her hand on his arm and said, 'Let's
go to my apartment, I hear someone coming.'
He followed her into her apartment; she closed the door and leaned
against it, allowing her robe to fall off completely.
Now nude, she purred at him, 'What would you say is my best feature?'
Flustered and embarrassed, he finally squeaked,
'It's got to be your ears.'
Astounded, and a little hurt she asked, 'My ears?!?!?''
Look at these breasts; they are a full 38 inches and 100% natural.
I work out every day and my !!! is firm and solid.
I have a 28 inch waist.
Look at my skin - not a blemish anywhere.
How can you think that the best part of my body is my ears?'
Clearing his throat, he stammered ....
'Outside, when you said you heard someone coming.......
that was me......'It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Seriously, how does one answer this. It is like the old adage that we allo think we're good drivers.
I'd like to say honesty, but yet I have lied. I am discreet, & that can be seen as secretive.
I am "careful" with money (many frieds call me tight!)
I'd probably say loyalty. I am loyal, I am relieable, and I'm a good friend.
I wouldn't say I'm much to look at I'm afraid. I'm a blue eyed blond, but the wrong gender for that to mean much.:pIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

DH thinks that because we both like it we should put it in a frame upstairs....actually he wants in blown up onto canvas. I don't like it enough to make it bigger, or print out on canvas, but it is a morale booster these days. Is it weird to put pictures of your self out? (I'm not dressed in the picture, but neither is it rude....I'm laying on my tummy)
I don't think there is any issue with this personally, though if you want to send me a copy for a detailed opinion...;):DIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
