They pointed out that he hasn't been wahsig very reliably in recent months/years and so it doesn't really make that much sense.
DH wan'ts it out today so the new one can copme in while he is not here next week. I feel very bad about this. I think people sometimes collect them from the tip to fefurbish though...don't they?
The value is in the weight of the metal, nobody's interested in refurbishing stuff except small charities that'd be local to a few people maybe.... so it'd be a local thing that you'd have to know about (i.e. highly unlikely).
Alternatively, advertise it on Freecycle/similar as: FREE - SPARES OR REPAIR......0 -

before I'd heard of freecycle or ebay I once took a perfectly working Dual turntable to a tip and told the guy it was in working order- figured they could use it/flog it if they had the time.
As I drove away saw in my rear view mirror, he was slamming it against the wall of the skip to crack it to get the metal out! :mad:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
... I've never noticed an oven with a eye-level grill like the ones over here.
Remaining old now has no need for an oven - unable to use one even if ours was safe/clean.0 -

Geographically I am too remote to get something up/running well like that. If one were in a big city it'd be easy to get great traffic/membership and engage with the local community; rurally you're stuffed when trying to start anything as you don't have access to a huge marketplace of people to reach to get things off the ground.
If I lived in London I could have started 1000 very successful businesses.... in London it's quite easy - just think of it and do it0 -

why can't it be done remotely? Emails shots, advertising and you managing a website?0 -
Visit to Tesco this morning and a section of the car park has been taken over by Tesco Community Fair. About 10 stalls from local charities, the obligatory fire engine and a few girls waving sticks to music. A few Tesco staff in appropriate t-shirts walking round telling everyone how pleased Tesco is to support the local community.
Only consequence I can see is that the car park is clogged up, with less space available and one of the exits blocked.
No stalls selling crafts, plants or anything else I would associate with a fair.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Did anyone see The boy in the striped pyjamas? I have been meaning to read the book for ages but the film was on BBC, very moving film about the simple uncomplicated way that children see the world, the ending is so poignant and is prone to open up those tear ducts. A wonderful film.
It is on I-Player still
