Agreed about the credibility issue, but Hoare was doing drugs and drink for many, many years, but miraculously decides to die when the whole affair blows up in the open. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but the timing stinks.0 -

who says he decided to die? Has that been said? I'm not aware of the full and current nature of his addiction but sometimes timing just sucks.
Sometimes its more than that, I agree. Thing is....most of us never know which, and coincidence is pretty common.0 -
I've actually no idea what's happened. I know the NotW doesn't exist, some phones were hacked, some people resigned, somebody's dead. But I don't know more than that. You can't stay on top of 1/100th of the things that there are in life to keep on top of.0

The key is who was hacked, the straw was hacking the family (and destroying evidence) of a murdered schoolgirl.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Fair dinkum to Murdoch (the old one) he has two young children(10 and 6) to his Kung Fu wife, keep it up, oo err missus.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Great TdF today/yesterday. Contador is just awesome when he stands on the pedals in the hills and tries to get away from other riders. Great work from Cadel to stay with him IMHO and then even take a few seconds off Contador.
It's going to be a big fight between the top 3 plus Contador to win it. Andy Schlek doesn't have the bottle in the descents to win IMO.0 -

I've been hooked on the TDF for years. I thought I might lose interest this year once Wiggins retired but it's been brilliant. Rode Alpe d'huez a few weeks ago - didn't do it quite as quick as they will this coming Friday but didn't stop once!0 -

I went up d'Huez twice in 2005. The first time was on a shopping bike!
The second time I did it in about 1hr 35mins from memory. The record is 42min I think set by Pantani. I was quite pleased to be half as good as The Pirate then discovered that his was at the end of a 240km day in the mountains!!!
If you like climbing, Briancon to the top of Col de Galibier is a good one but nothing has come close to climbing Ventoux. That was amazing, seeing Tom Simpson's memorial at the top.0
